Saw and Justin
PROLOGUE

Year 1850, London,

It was a cold winter night, and the skies were dark like coffee. Jack the ripper had maybe killed someone again. You could never now. The roads weren’t safe, now at days. Yesterday the police found a girl, splatted up. Her body was opened, and you could see her entrails.

Today it was Halloween. All people were dressed like different creatures. Some of them were dressed like, ghost, aliens, and monsters. I was dressed like a ghost. “ Come on, Justin, hurry up”. “I am coming, James. I just need to take my costume on”.

Justin is my best friend. He has brown hair, and blue eyes. He is very lazy, also at school. He always gets bad rapports from the school. “What is that?” “I am dressed like a monster, from a movie, can´t you see it”. “Ya right, come let´s go”.

It was very cold out side Justin´s house. We took the bus, to the other side of the city. Justin and I live out side the city, so every Halloween we have to take the bus to the city. When the bus stopped, we went to the nearest house. I saw many pumpkins out side the houses. There were also small lights, inside the pumpkins. “ Ring, Ring”. An old man opened the door. “ Hello kids, what can I do for you?” “Trick Or Treat?” “ Oh sorry, I forgot it was Halloween today. I just go inside to get some candy. “Justin isn’t it funny. The man forgot that it was Halloween today… I asked you something. Justin! When I looked behind me, were he stood just one minute ago, he wasn’t there!

I walked around five minutes, but I couldn’t find him. Then I saw two figures, in a spawning. I couldn’t see their faces, but I had a strange feeling that it was Justin. I went into the spawning, very slowly. But when I saw what there were happening, I gave a scream.

A man was opening, Justin’s stomach! Then I saw the man`s face, but actually he wasn’t a man, he was a ghost. “ James, help me! I tried to stop the ghost, but he just pushed me away, and I fainted.

Modern Halloween has become less literal about ghosts and ghouls and more about costumes and candy. The holiday is overflowing with action on its reserved night. Kids are so anxious to drag their parents out the door, show off their creative costumes, and ring their first doorbell for a fun-filled night of trick-or-treating as soon as the dismissal bell for school rings. High school students wait until the whole group of friends is together before they head out into the misty darkness with only the flickering street light to guide them. Meanwhile, adults are sipping on their witches brew at a local party or nightclub.…

The cuts on Little Red’s cheeks stung and dripped small drops of blood down her face. The glistening, white snow fell slowly to the ground outside the window. The distinct shapes of the snowflakes shown; the light from the street lamp seeping through the cracks. The mumble of the heater in the corner of the room; the faint sound of the blood dripping onto the floor were the only sounds. He lay there; motionless. The thuds were entering the silent room once again. The creaking of the wooden floor grew louder and louder. Still the light of the street lamp shone through the window and onto the far wall. The nasty figure walked into the murky room. Only its shadow appeared on the far wall behind it. The boy in the bed was Eli. His tiny eight year old body was red with his own blood. Then……

The wind flowed across the streets, carrying the sounds of laughter and happiness. I shivered slightly as I turned to my friends and breathed in the cold air. Nathaniel looked at his watch, “It’s seven forty-five, we have about thirty more minutes,” I glanced at my friend, he was wearing a black robe with a mask that had blood dripping down it and it was as scary as a nightmare about Jingles the clown. He was a grim reaper sort of thing. Audrey was a drummer and was wearing an AC/DC hoodie and black boots and holding two Hard Rock Cafè drumsticks. My friend Tom was Donald Trump. He had a Donald Trump mask and was wearing a suit. Rushabh was a knight and Aysha and Miranda were Hogwarts students. Sammie was a “Hooded Hunter” and I was an angel.…

As a child I was psyched up, I couldn’t wait to look at all the pumpkins and carve it as a dinosaur. I literally was obsessed with dinosaurs until the age of nine. We parked our 1997 Corolla and started to walk to all the bright orange pumpkins. Something was strange from the looks of this place. All the pumpkins had white little tags on them but they weren’t dollar signs like you would expect. They all had words on them, I was only six at the time so I couldn’t read that much. A few words I read out loud from one of the white little tags but struggled to read the whole sentence. My mom was confused too, why would all the pumpkins have stupid little quotes on them she murmured. We soon found out shortly that this was at our advantage and not a disappointment. A tall black man with dreads came out of the trailer by the pumpkin patch and walked up to us. He asked “What can I help you with folks?” My mother asked him about the pumpkins and the quotes on them. He laughed, since it’s three days before Halloween were having a little contest. I looked up at him and…

In its modernity, Halloween is the only day out of the entire year where a person is encouraged to be someone wildly different from themselves, with (almost) no negative repercussions. Thus, people tend to outdo themselves when it comes to crafting their "persona" for the night, taking much of their inspiration from movies, video games, the news, and even Internet memes to build the greatest costumes.…

We looked down and there was blood running down the dumpster this time. The legs were still dangling down. Jack the Ripper

The Whitechapel Murders and those of Jack the Ripper are not generally one and the same. Over a period of three years towards the end of the nineteenth century a number of prostitutes were murdered under different circumstances – the murder of prostitutes was not an especially unique occurrence during those times but several of the murders drew particular attention on account of the savagery with which the victim's bodies were mutilated. Within the Whitechapel Murders was a cluster of murders that demonstrated sufficient similarities as to suggest that they were committed by the same person. One of the first instances of serial murder was thus identified and sensationalised in the media as the work of ‘Jack the Ripper', nicknamed on the strength of a letter, probably a hoax, sent to the Central News Agency and claiming responsibility for the killings. Jack the Ripper was a man, and the killer surely was a man, who did not have the intention to merely kill his victims; he needed to mutilate them. Such was the savagery of his attacks and the enthusiasm of the press, that he successfully terrorised the environs of Whitechapel in East London for several years. In spite of an extensive investigation of the killings, Jack the Ripper was never apprehended nor convincingly identified.…
