The term hero is defined as a person who is admired for courage or noble qualitites. Heroes dont do good deeds for credit or acknowledgement they usually do them becuase they feel it is the right thing to do .Some are accidental heroes, such as Oskar Schindler who risked almost everything to save thousands of Jews during the Holocauset. Schindler was a very unlikely hero. Oskar Schindler was born on April 28, 1908 in Zwitlau.His father and mother, Hans and Louisa Schindler, were deeply religious.The Schindler family was one of the richest and most prominent in Zwitlau and elsewhere. This was due to the success of their family owned machinery business ("Schindler's List," 1995).In 1929, during the Great Depression, the Schindler family business went bankrupt. While living in Moravia, Czechoslovia Schindler joined the Nazi party in 1939. Shortly after he went to Krakow where he was responsible for operating two formly Jewish owed manufacturers company. Schindler soon established his own manufactoring company in Zabiocie, where he employeed many Jews. Through

his army connections and the explotation of cheap labor Schindler made a fortune(USHMM.org). During the years of 1942 and 1943 Germans shot and deported over 20,000 Jews. Those who survived were moved to Plaszow. In Plaszow there were labor camps which were run by Amon Geoth a S.S. Commandant. Oskar and Amon were associates therefore Schindler was exposed to harsh treatments and killings of Jewish individuals lead by Amon and his men. In a scene from the film (“Schindlers Lists,”1995) Oskar hosed down the Jewish people as they were put on the train to be sent to a concentration camp. Schindler did this because he saw how dehydrated they were and hot from the large quantity of people in the compressed train.
