School Lunch In College
Every college or university has certain policies and times that the cafeteria is allowed to be open. We sometimes forget that the school lunch/dinner hall is run by regular university staff as well as a few students who also have other obligations such as homework, fine art activities, etc., but I feel that the hour and a half time period that the cafe is open and available to the student body, it is not enough time for most students, especially athletes, to get in there and eat. I am a student athlete here at Butler Community College on a volleyball scholarship. Like all the other student athletes, I am on a set schedule that I follow everyday including practices, training, mandatory study hall, and meetings. Sometimes, training and the other things that are required …show more content…
Another meal that I never get the chance to enjoy because of my lovely spring schedule!
Dinner being my favorite meal, I rarely get the opportunity to sit and take the time to eat the tacos or the hamburgers and french fries that the cafeteria serves for dinner.
Extending the hours to something like breakfast from seven to ten, lunch eleven to three, and dinner from five to eight, Those hours give students all the time they need to even just to stop by the cafe to pick up a sandwich or a salad.
Another good idea is investing in different fast food chains as in Taco Bell, Chik-Fil-A, and Subway. That way the entire student body, even the ones who don't purchase a cafeteria meal plan which is way overpriced, can have access to food on campus without having to spend a ton of money and without having to leave campus.
Extending the cafeteria hours will be helpful to every busy body on campus. Leaving the lights on a little longer shouldn't be a problem, I know that because I've sat and talked about this with my peers. I think that would be something the students of Butler Community College could really

The issue expressed in the article, “Should Lunch Be Longer”, written by Mackenzie Carro, states that lunch in numerous places needs to be prolonged. In addition, she argues that school schedules are very tight and that extending lunch may make it worse. Even though many students say that lunch should be longer, I definitely disagree. This argument has been in the air for countless years. Nevertheless, nobody has done much to change this.…

For students, lunch serves as the much needed break from the routine of attending classes, however, lunch can be either an enjoyable intermission or it can be a chaotic, hectic experience in an over-crowded cafeteria. School administrators have the authority to grant students the option, privilege, and flexibility to choose where they eat lunch. Opponents will debate that students should have the consent to leave campus for lunch, however, there are less advantages to an open campus policy than there are disadvantages. Therefore, Cy-Fair High School should continue enforcing the current closed campus policy.…

When having the off lunch campus, I believe that all senior students are available for this not just the top 10. Having the top 10 just going off campus for lunch is not acceptable because it makes the rest of the students angry because it is not fair for the top ten to go off campus. All students should be eligible to go off campus for lunch. Senior students should also be able to graduate early if they have all their credit needed. I also think that senior students should be able to graduate earlier rather than at the end of May, they should be able to graduate more towards the middle of the May.…

for high schools. While some passionately believe that later start times may be troublesome, it is not. Students circadian rhythm are on schedule, causing them to be healthier; their testing scores, grades and attentiveness are increased; students’ performance in sports is positively amplified; community service, library hours, student jobs and school clubs are not affected; and the number of drowsy teen accidents are reduced. This still may seem like it does not prove great results, but it does. Schools all over the United States have made this change and it has brought great improvement. With this new efficiency that high school students will possess, it not only improves their study habits, but also their school’s overall performance. This is not a drastic change in time, it will only be pushed back an hour or two. Teachers, parents, school administrators need to start discussing this topic. The more later they push away from deciding, the more sleep deprived the students are. This is a complicated issue to decide on. They need to hold staff meetings at least once a day in the week to discuss transportation, teachers’ schedules, after school activities, and so on. Involve parents in the decision first and then see what happens next. But districts need to keep in mind that the benefits are far greater than the…

It would be bad idea to add an extra one an half hour because there would be no time for extracurricular activities, older siblings wouldn’t be able to get their younger brother/ or sister off the elementary school bus, and schools would have to provide a snack for the children because it would interfere with families early dinner time. Can the school afford this? It is very important for families to have family time because families should have a strong bond. Also, kids should have time to get out their energy and have fun instead of learning for nine hours a day. Here are my reasons on why the School Board should not change school hours.…

Open campus lunch is a controversial topic that can often be “swept under the rug” so to speak. Schools often have closed campus lunch because an open campus lunch runs the risk of after lunch truancies, but there are many benefits to open campus lunch they may not realize. More money in Montgomery County, more places to eat, and longer lunch periods, are a few reasons why open campus lunch would be a better alternative.…

Some students at EMS has financial issues that they are dealing with at home. As a result no student would be buying school lunch. Also they may have not gotten accepted to have free lunch like I do. Another reason is the student may think the lunch the lunch look or taste disgusting. So you would expect the student to not even bother with the school lunch. Others say that the reason why they don’t eat the lunch is they’re not hungry once lunch time comes. Either it was because they ate a big breakfast or they just don’t eat as much. Now think about it when they eat breakfast its probably around 7:00 or 7:30. That’s 5 hours until the next meal is offered to them, if they can do that then they must be a superhero or something.…

student rights earned My name is Diana V. I am a student at Foothill High School and I am writing an essay on whether or not high schools should have an open lunch campus. Here are some of my ideas. I believe sophomores and higher grade levels should be able to leave for lunch and come back by the next class. When the school keeps students on campus it makes the students want to leave. First of all, the food isn't as good as it would be for ex. At McDonald's or Taco bell, everyone knows cafeteria food is not that appetizing. For students to concentrate better, don't we need a good meal? I think so. Second of all, if the school is concerned about students "ditching" classes, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to keep track of attendance after lunch. Confront the student about their skipping and punish them for it. Punishment could mean cleaning the tables after everyone at lunch, after school detention, or taking away off campus privileges. Third of all, when students leave campus and COME BACK, it shows dedication to return and learn. Also students learn responsibility and it's helping us be ready for our independent life as adults. Thank you for taking your time reading this:)…

It will improve the schedule because it will eliminate unneeded electives, sync with other schools schedules, and extend prep hour. It will improve learning by giving the students the ability to ask questions, improve grades, and stay caught up. It will improve productivity by more time to grade and more time to learn. As a East Jordan public school board member, you have the power to overall improve schooling for the students. The 7 hour school schedule does not work. The school board members must change the schedule so there are only 6 classes in one day and only 6 classes for each student's schedule. It is the school board member’s job to make sure that students are getting all the education that they need in the best way possible. It makes the most sense to schedule classes this way. This schedule allows for a better learning experience and a healthier schedule for the student body. So please, for the benefit of the student body, pick the obvious choice, and switch to a 6 hour…

It’s not only beneficial for students, its great for teachers as well. Teachers are always scrambling for the first two-three minutes of class just trying to get thing together. Putting on more time would get rid of that problem by allowing teachers to get things ready an set up for the class. Are teachers are not robots, not yet at least. They need to use the restroom too. So instead of leaving during the middle of class to go, they would now have plenty of time to do their business before class even starts. However the bad thing about adding more time is that they get a little less class time. So doing this would be working up to when the bell rings.…
