Goal and Rationale: My goal is based off of the Danielson Framework Domain 3b element two, discussion techniques. In both of the lessons that I have taught in the classroom there have been discussions and both times I ran out of time and or missed opportunities. It is for this reason that I am creating my goal to be: I want to create critical thinking open ended questions for discussions but learn to go with the flow when the discussion takes a different turn. In the first lesson the discussion questions at the end of the class were used to basically capture whether or not the students understood the landform and surroundings, as well as if they had followed the directions. After the lesson was over and I sat down for my debriefing I was told there had been several missed opportunities for more discussion that might have been not only fun but beneficial to have gone over. I was so concerned with time that I completely glazed over them and even so didn’t get through all my questions. I think that using my housemates as guinea pigs to see if the structure of the question creates critical thinking or not is the perfect way to practice writing these questions. To help me with my not missing opportunities I will be practicing, with my new set of questions, on a group of homeschoolers that I’ll be tutoring over the break. I use this opportunity to see if I am still missing possible gold mines or whether or not it was just my nerves getting the best of me. I think that this will be the perfect way also to see if the sentence structure will help in creating possible side trails or minimize them which will be important to note for future
