From my perspective about themes, I do not think that there is such a thing as a perfect theme. Of course people can come up with a theme which might seem to cover all areas still more other areas will be left out. For the fact that these other areas have been left out, it means that the theme is not perfect. The criteria I used therefore for selecting a theme is to evaluate the themes that have been given first.
After careful evaluation, the theme which stood out for me is Sharpened for Change. I have to admit that the list of themes which the class came up with was great. If a person who has never been at ABC were to come and observe what happens here, there are certain things which he or she would not miss out. When a student comes at ABC from wherever they were, they come with certain skills that most of the times are inactive. The environment at ABC campus provides a platform for those skills to come out and be put to use.
For example, one can have a desire in him or her to major in mass communication. What African Bible College does is to give that person the necessary material to achieve that which the person wanted. The college imparts to the person all the information and they go out and effect change. Therefore it can be concluded by looking at this that African Bible College does indeed shape its students for the better.
Secondly, the theme is short enough. This is the way a theme is supposed to be in terms of its length. It has been said by many people that the shortness of the theme should not make it lose its meaning. This theme is brief in such a way that it also has not lost its meaning. Also, many readers are not in support of long themes for yearbooks. When it is too long it tends to lose readers attention. When I first heard it in class, it got my attention. I believe this theme will grab a person’s attention as well as it did with me. When they look at it, it will appeal to them that they should grab it. When a person will look at it, he or she will wonder and want to know more as to what is inside. This is what a yearbook theme is supposed to do, grab the reader’s attention. Such themes have been proven to be good by many. This will be a reason enough to grab a yearbook and look at the contents inside. The fourth reason is that the theme is easier to understand. When one will look at it, they will not be any need for any explanation to be given for the theme. Many people are familiar with the term sharpened and whatever issues are related with it. There will therefore be an understanding in the mind of the readers that the contents of the yearbook are worthy to be looked at. The reason for all of this is that the theme is easier to
