Michael noticed his aunt on the phone talking bad about him behind his back. then Michael walked in the door coming home from school…

Happyness In “Shells” by Cynthia Rylant, Michael and his Aunt Esther’s relationship is filled with loads and loads of changes throughout the story and people are born to need to change. A reason to support this claim is that she can’t get along with Michael until she begins to change is when the author writes the sentence (“Aunt Esther liked living alone, she had never married or had children, she had never lived anywhere but Detroit until Michael came.”) when it signal’s that there relationship is full of change.…
Also, I will be answering question number 8. In the beginning of the story, Michael was very scared and nervous at all times. He acted this way because if the government found out about his father, he would be sent back to Cuba and be separated with his brother. At the end of the story, however, Michael feels a lot more happy and relieved to do what he wants. The truth about his father’s death comes out, but his coach takes him into his household temporarily. Now, he isn’t keeping all of his feelings bottled up and…

He felt like no cared about him so therefor he became a runner. Hoping if he ran away to find a family member that no one would find him or the government would just give up, after a few times the did give up. So Michael stayed with his mom and sold newspaper to sport himself. Thought out the years in foster care Michael realized that he wanted a better life then what he had. Michael did not want his mother’s failures to become his failures.…
Dear Gary Paulsen: The first time I read Hatchet was when I was in the fourth grade. I have always liked survival stories and Hatchet made me really about how fast our world can be turned upside down. I really appreciate the section when Brian tells how his teacher, Perpich, told him to "stay positive and stay on top of things" and "You are your most valuable asset. Don't forget that. You are the best thing you have.…

"The Charmer" by Budge Wilson is a short story about a Canadian family that finds misfortune and conflict within their lives. Conflict being the predominant theme which directly affects all the participants in the family. The story is written in third person and narrated from the young girl Winifred's point of view. Budge Wilson uses Zack's smothered childhood, charming personality and irresponsible behaviour to create emotional conflict between members of the family.…
Michael was born into a bad situation to begin with; his mother was a crack addict. The neighborhood was known as a “broken windows” neighborhood, crime rate high and a lack of police presence. No one ever gave Michael a chance or believed in him until he met the Tuohy family, who changed his life. The plan that I have thought of for Michael is for him to continue living with the Tuohy family, but get in touch with his siblings. He needs to know his biological family. Sorting and organizing his life events in different factors, the majority of them are psychological factors, which should result with him seeing a counselor to relieve some of his life’s…
