Well, it seems like I just wrote a note to all of you a day ago ~ but, as with all of us ~ time flies!
We are trying to make our “own” holiday traditions ~ since we don’t have Grandma “M” Schlueter’s house to go to anymore. It is hard. We all remember going to Grandma’s with our dish to share, gift exchange gifts, some awesome and some horrible (the gifts ~ not the food), but that is what made it fun ~ stealing them from each other and then opening and seeing what we ended up with.
We had a Christmas Poem read by one of the family members, we sang Christmas songs and then ended the night with Bingo or a game of pool. We talked, laughed and spent that “quality” time that everyone says they wish they had; but no one has time for anymore.

If we start getting enough people ~ maybe we can bring back those special traditions of exchanging a small gift, singing some songs, saying a prayer, playing games and just enjoying each other’s company. We always eat at 1:00 p.m. on Christmas ~ and I am guessing we will eat at 6ish on Christmas Eve. (Since this is the first time….I am winging it).
While I am being sentimental ~ this is Cody’s senior year and Rachel’s 8th grade year. I can’t believe how fast our children have grown. Am I having a heard time letting go?? You bet! I am holding on very tightly and they both may say I am suffocating them; but at least they know they are loved! HA!
So, keep the end of May or the first part of June open as we will be celebrating Cody’s graduation at our home. (Date is undetermined due to the lovely Illinois weather).
