Parental involvement helps because it motivates a child to take their work seriously to keep them on their toes, but it is not necessary. Students could go through school by themselves with their own motivation; they believe they could work hard, they believe they will succeed, they believe in the future that lies ahead of them, they believe in themselves, so they will do whatever they can to achieve that, but this is not always the case for every student. Students get or learn the attitude of success and the will of working hard from the atmosphere around them, whether it be constantly positive or constantly negative. Teachers play a big role in a student’s education because that is their job: to teach students, to get them an education.…

Another problem is that even though student athletes are big part of campus life, the NCAA has created a monster that makes athletes try to focus more on their skill at their sport than trying to improve their education. If these athletes were paid, then they could focus on both and not have to think about their future in sports and try to improve their education in case they do not make it to the professional league (Staudohar and…

College athletes should be paid in order to: help them financially accommodate their expensive lifestyles, give them the money they played hard to earn, and to eliminate unethical recruiting and under the table payments. Considering how hard it is to support yourself while playing sports in college, the millions of dollars universities and the NCAA makes off of you and your teammates, and the unfair advantages in recruiting that some colleges deploy, paying student athletes should be heavily considered by everyone that calls themselves a sports…

They are some of the hardest working individuals that obtain intense practices and demanding college courses, and many believe that they should be rewarded for their hard work. But the ongoing debate is whether it is right to pay these players as if they were employees. Many major colleges provide the best services for their athletes by providing them with the greatest gyms to workout in, free health insurance for injuries, transportation, food, equipment, and most of the time, a full four-year scholarship. On top of all of these things that are provided, does it seem right to be paying these students as well? Some people believe they should not be paid because the already receive scholarships to a university which everything is suppose to be payed for. Top colleges athletes already get plenty of benefits, such as scholarships and free tutoring. (Scholastic News 2). However, this is not necessarily always true. Although some universities offer athletic scholarships, they do not pay for all expenses (Time for Kids 3). They are not necessarily getting paid, yes they are getting tuition money for school, rooms, and books, but they are not receiving money to help them if they have an injury, buy clothes, or food. Other people believe college is a place for learning, not earning. If college athletes get paid, they may not be motivated to focus on their schoolwork (Time for Kids 3). Again, this is not necessarily true. Yes, college is a place for learning. But college athletes are focusing and learning for their career they chosen, sports. If they are paid, they will be highly motivated because if they fail their schoolwork, they cannot compete in their sport. Many of the reasons to not pay college athletes are…

In “Paying Students to Get Good Grades” Christopher Peterson states that if there is no motivation, paying them is pointless (1). By this the author is stating that if students do not get the motivation they need for good grades, paying them will not help them. This is true because bribing people, especially minors, will only help them financially, not education wise. The author also states that “Children are given awards for what they spontaneously do; after some period of time,…
