should gay couples be able to marry?
Gays should be allowed to marry When it comes to gay marriage I think society needs to calm down and realize something here. Those gay people are in love and their human beings just like the rest of us. Stop being so prideful and see that they deserve to be happy and have the same rights as everyone else. No one is above anyone in this world, we are all gods children and he loves us all despite everything. I support gay marriage and equal rights to the end! I think if people opened their hearts a little more to people and the way the world is now and not old customary ways everyone would be OK.
If you oppose gay marriage, you are directly telling homosexuals you think they are lesser people. Saying "well the bible doesn't condone it" isn't good enough and it's a pretty frightening display of arrogance to think the bible should rule over all. It's well within the rights of any church against it to not perform a gay marriage within their walls. Saying that it should be banned outside them, however, is homophobic, oppressive and nauseating. Marriage is between a man and a woman. First of all, America was founded, because of religious persecution in England right? Then, we come to America, and figure out that we just wanted to be Christian, and we went through many things in America that was wrong Salem Witch Trials, slavery, segregation. This is just another fatal error. Hypothetical: If everyone is to become gay then how in the blue hell will we create new life, humans were not meant to be gay. If we were don't you think men and men could have children or women and women? No, they can't so there is no way gay should be right. Also, what if you're trying to bring YOUR child up on traditional view, and the subliminal messages, like the gay Kindle Fire commercial, and then your son or daughter says to themselves "Why are those two men married?" What do you say to that child? Just because you do not support gay marriage does not mean you are homophobic it means, that

If someone were to ask me if I thought Homosexuals should be allowed to marry, I would say definitely. Allowing same sex marriage will give gay couples access to rights such as inheritance, health coverage, and adoption. Same sex couples should be allowed to have access to marriage benefits just like any other couple. It is not fair for society to shun gays. I feel that we should all be accepting to their lifestyles. Homosexuality is not any different than a normal couple. Love has no boundaries and is controlled by what ones feels inside their hearts.…

My personal views on this issue changed a few years ago when watching the TV broadcast and something came up about the right for gays to marry. Previously I was personally indifferent but felt that marriage was as much a religious institution as a civil institution. After all, most marriages are performed by clergy and the majority are in religious settings. I felt that civil union met the needs of gays so why offend the religions? Then I saw an older woman interviewed and she had explained that she and her partner had been waiting 30 or 40 year for this day. They have lived together as a family and wanted to be married. That's about as successful as a married couple can be, still wanting to be married after all that time! And I thought, all Americans are entitled to their own pursuit of happiness. Gays who buy into a system of family values should have the same family rights as others. I also used to get grossed out when I hear same sex marriage, but then I look at Ellen DeGeneres, for example, she is the sweetest the person that could be. Opinions about same sex marriage crossed out so many times and places as well as thru out the years. Many say that time is changing and over the years people slowly will accept the gay marriage.…

Many churches preached against gay rights, saying things like, “Homosexuals are sinners, god didn’t want this, and my favorite, god made Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve.” “Leviticus 20:13 - If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood [shall be] upon them.” (Bible). When people read things like this in the bible it’s basically telling them it’s okay to discriminate against others, such as homosexuals. It is so wrong that the bible consists of sch horrible, degrading passages, saying if a man is in sexual relations with another man they should be put to death. The bible also states, “Leviticus 18:22 - Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it [is] abomination.” Don’t get me wrong I see no problem believing in god, but I don’t believe people should take the bible as serious as they do. The bible doesn’t only talk about discrimination against homosexuality, it also talks about how women must listen to their husbands, and different foods you shouldn’t eat because if you don’t obey the bible you are going to hell. Leviticus 19:27 reads, “You shall not round off the side-growth of your heads nor harm the edges of your beard.” That’s basically saying you can’t cut your hair or you’re going to hell, which is complete stupidity. The bible also states, “You are to keep my statutes. You shall not breed together two kinds of your cattle; you shall not sow your field with two kinds of seed, nor wear a garment upon you of two kinds of material mixed together.” The bible just has ridiculous “laws” that you must abide by like not mixing two fabrics, therefore saying you can’t wear polyester. I think it’s foolish that many people know the bible has irrational passages written in it, but insist on saying, “According to the bible homosexuality is…

I do not believe in the bible and I am allowed to marry in any church or place with open arms in the name of God. Everyone takes this argument to the bible, how many mothers kick their children out for being gay is growing everyday. 1 Timothy 5:8 Anyone who does not provide for their relatives, and especially for their own household, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever. From what I have read online and from the parents words and what they have written they are christian. They are worse than an unbeliever, worse than me, And I believe that anybody can love no matter what race, religion, how old you are you can still love. What if being gay was normal and being straight was a sin? You would be sinning everyday and you know what you would feel. Bad you would wanna kill yourself, you wouldn't wanna be yourself anymore because everyone hates you. Or you would live through it and be the happiest person on the planet and nobody could stop you. The bible was written by a bunch of guys. People can not be made from clay, someone can not be made of dust. I went to church and I sang for people, I never paid attention to the pastor because well I did not believe in the bible. He spoke about how anyone who loved the same gender as themselves would be burned in hell for all eternity. I got up right in the middle of his speech and left that room. My uncle was sent to prison for flirting with a man in a bar, My other uncle had to get a divorce with his husband and their children were taken away because people would riot outside there house and they put the kids lives at danger. What's so wrong with gay marriage anyhow? Are they touching you, bothering you, are they trying to turn you? No so leave them alone. In human nature I do believe that we all want to outrank each other and be better. Christians…

Everybody should have the right to a legally recognized union with a partner of their choice. The debate over whether or not people in same sex relationship should be allowed to marry, or even enter into civil unions is no new fight. Legalizing gay marriage has brought a new trend which then providing the arguments on supporting gay marriage such as denying them is a violation of religious freedom and minority discrimination encourages people to have strong family values and constitute a good based family as well as giving up high-risk sexual lifestyles. Homosexuality is an accepted lifestyle nowadays with most evidence proving biological causation, and marriage benefits should be available to all couples.…

Why should we let two people that love each other get married? It’s just not right! The only reasons why two people should get married are for money, sex and kids. And since gays can't have kids, there's no point to lesbian sex, and anal sex is just plain nasty. Therefore, gays have no reason to get married.…

Try to imagine life in a society that refuses individuals to marry who they love. Imagine people being around their partners, but not having the legal rights to call them their wives or husbands. The fact of the matter is one does not have to try to imagine this because this is the state of current society. People can argue about whether church and state should be separated, the banning of polygamy, and not legalizing gay marriage, but the major importance is the institution of love (Sullivan). Gay marriage should not be opposed, but embraced by society with joy. Gay marriage should be legalized in the United States because denying this right is unfair and unconstitutional; marriage is not about money or judgment of society, but about a couple’s love for each other, and it will help reduce or solve social problems.…

Same sex marriage is currently not an option in 39 states. It has been frowned upon by the church for decades, yet the 14th amendment makes “the elusive promise of equality a reality”. (p.255) In 1996 congress passed DOMA to define the word marriage as a “legal union between one man and one woman” (p.253) This preventing any couples married in one state that allows gay marriage to move to a state without, and receive recognition of their union.…

One of the most profound experiences thus far is my time spent volunteering for a research study examining the effects of person-centered care with individuals diagnosed with Dementia. Throughout this study I worked toward providing care that promotes independence, communication, and better quality of life by providing them with opportunities to participate in meaningful activities or roles. I assisted these patients with strategies they can use to facilitate memory and optimize communication skills, and developed strong connections with many of them along the way. I entered this research project with the intent to make a…

Should Gay Marriage be Legalized? Gay marriage has been a critical topic in many countries since 1924. Around the year 2000, countries such as America and the UK started approving gay marriages, although not everyone agreed with this decision. Still in 2013, homosexuals are fighting for their right to get married to someone of their same sex. People against gay marriage feel that if it was to be legalized, the importance of marriage would fade away and some people would refer to marriage in a different way. According to an article from the Human Rights Campaign, there is nothing wrong with allowing homosexuals to have the same rights as those who are heterosexual. Every individual person should have equal rights, regardless of sexuality. Gay marriage should be legalized in all states and countries, as it has been held off for too long.…
