Debate Paper
Should guns be outlawed? Some people say yes and some people say no. I did a questionnaire on Facebook and everyone that answered that question said yes. Personally I do not like guns, but I do believe that guns should not be outlawed.
There are pros and cons on having guns and not having guns. First I am going to discuss the pros on having guns. People will be able to defend themselves if they were ever to get invaded. People will still be able to hunt in order to survive. Even if an adult never needs to draw a concealed handgun for self-defense, a person may feel safer being armed and feel freer to go outside at night or in dangerous areas.
Second are the cons on having a gun. People can accidently get shot by cleaning their own gun. Somebody else could steal it as use it as a murder weapon and you could get blamed for it. The

Here are some pros on not having a gun. The shooting crime rate would lower. People would not have to worry about anybody getting accidently shot. It would lower suicide with gun rates.
Here are cons on not having a gun. It would not lower all the crime rates. Woman and weaker individuals may have no means of self-defense from rape or other crimes, especially in the inner city. Criminals will always find a way to obtain their guns, leaving law-abiding citizens without any weapons to use in defense.
I believe that guns should not be outlawed, but in order to buy a gun I believe that everybody should have to go through an evaluation to see if they are mentally stable to own a gun without people having to be scared if they see a person with a gun. By mentally stable I mean not a person that is depressed to the point where they want to kill themselves or another person. People have the right to protect themselves and their families and nobody should be able to take that away from

If people are granted a concealed weapons license, the crime rate will decrease. More than just murder would decrease. Concealed guns reduced murder, rapes, aggravated assaults, and robbery. One reason for this is because criminals would feel scared because they wouldn’t know who is carrying a concealed gun. The Second amendment also plays a part…

Although guns are good in some uses and protection, I think that guns should not be allowed because More than 500 children die annually from accidental gunshots. Some shoot themselves, while others kill friends or siblings after discovering a gun. Here are more scary stats: Americans own 200 million firearms, and 35 percent of homes contain at least one gun. Last year, a study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found more than 1.7 million children live in homes with loaded and unlocked guns. A recent study published in the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine found 39 percent of kids…

Proponents of stricter guns laws believe mass shootings and other violent crimes would decrease with stricter gun control but opponents believe making guns harder to get will take away our second amendment right to bear arms and that if everyone had a gun they would be able to protect themselves and that in itself would reduce violent crimes. Both sides of the issue has opinions, facts and statistics that support their claims. However, I still stand firm in my conviction for stricter guns laws. I believe the pros definitely out weight the cons. Stricter guns laws should include more comprehensive background checks to include gun owners and anyone who has access to the guns, longer waiting periods, and evaluations for mental illness and depression.…

The role guns play in our society has long been a controversial topic for the past few years in the united states. There are those who believe that guns do not belong in the hands of citizens and there are those who believe that guns are the foundation that protects our rights and liberties stated in the Constitution. There are too many leading factors as to why there should not be any stricter gun control laws. Some of these factors are that they go against our fundamental rights of self defense, give too much power to the government, and could potentially increase crime rates in the united states.…

Gun control can be looked at from many different viewpoints from many different people. Some people believe that all crime will be stopped while others think it will only increase. Guns should not be banned in the U.S because banning them will not make the killers stop, good people need to help, and making guns illegal will just lead to people disobeying the law.…

Guns do a lot of bad, but do a lot more good for society. Banning guns will not stop the problem, but will just make it worse. Guns are apart of our society as Americans they have been around since colonial years, and are not leaving anytime soon. “The number of guns in America has increased by more than 50 percent since 1993, and in that same period the gun homicide rate in the United States has dropped by half. (Kristof, The Times).” Guns offer protection for individuals. One day you could be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a shooting breaks out, you will pray there is someone else there with a concealed firearm to help control the situation while waiting for police to arrive. They can’t do that if guns are banned. “We need to understand that we cannot stop crimes and murders. And banning guns would be a step, or two, backwards instead of moving forward in the right direction (The Times News).” The research conducted to produce this paper was drawn from a multitude of sources all with different…

Why do people keep guns? These days many people own and carry guns with them in the name of security and protection. Many people own guns such as rifles and shotguns for the sport of hunting. The government allows people to own and carry guns by having a background check and getting a permit, but there are many private gun sellers who sell guns without any background checks and giving permits. The possession of guns should be strictly banned because they are the sign of violence, they have increased the rates murders and insecurity, and even many children have killed other children.…

    Gun Control Persuasive

I believe that guns should not be banned in the US. “Guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” I am sure most of us have heard this saying at some point in our lives. Surely, it is a statement of the obvious, but the logic behind it rings true. It may seem rational to ban guns entirely to prevent people from killing, but it is not the guns themselves that are the problem. That is just a simple solution to a complex problem. The criminals who kill others are willing to break the law and risk going to prison for the rest of their lives to murder, yet they are expected to follow firearm laws? If a nationwide gun ban is enacted, criminals will not suddenly follow the law and reject the thought of buying a firearm on the black market. Banning all guns in the United States would be irrational because it would not lower crime or prevent firearm-related murders.…

These beliefs still exist today to an extent, but morals, lifestyles, and times have changed. Today, instead of protecting, guns can be used to enhance criminals' power, giving him the ability to take ones' life. With that being said, guns have only…
