In 1775, the Congress printed “continentals,” a paper note that was printed in massive quantities that led to rapidly accelerating inflation, causing them to go out of commission. Later, in 1791, at the urge of then Treasury Secretary Alexander Hamilton, the Congress established the First Bank of the United States, which became the largest company in the nation. The political climate was inclining towards the idea of a central bank again in 1816, so by a narrow margin, the Congress managed to charter the Second Bank of the United States. However, later, Andrew Jackson, an anti-central-bank man, was elected in 1828, and he vowed to stop it. From 1836 to 1865, state-chartered banks and uncharted “free banks” roamed the nation, issuing their…

As employees we have all felt the differences between respect amongst our co-workers. This can be real or imagined but nearly all of us, at some time, have felt this emotion. This mostly occurs when management puts forth an heir of self-importance or simply treats its employees indifferently(Pierce & Newstrom, 2011, p. 118). This benign treatment of employees lowers morale, causes poor work performance, and can cause internal strife within a business(Pierce & Newstrom, 2011, p. 118). It should be avoided at all costs as to better the company.…

Of the 23,925,000 golfer's worldwide, only 22.8% of them are women of the ages 18 and older (Berkley). As of 2012, there were 25 golf courses in the United States which only allowed men to be members (Channel Signal). For years the philosophical debate has raged on. Emotions or intellect? Romanticism, a philosophy with an emphasis on emotion, instinct, and idealism, holds the idea that the world and everything in it is more than the sum of its parts, and holds that there are some things that are not fully discoverable or observable. On the other side we are faced with the philosophy of the enlightenment. Enlightened thinking holds that anything that exist can be discovered through logic, reason, and observable evidence.…

My experience of being supervised was one that I considered to be a negative experience. In this experience, my boss at an ice cream shop was concerned that someone was stealing money on that shift. There were around three of us working at the time and our boss was understandably angry that some money had gone missing during that shift. I believe that what made this experience negative was that my boss got hysterical and very aggressive with me and the rest of the employees instead of calmly talking to each of us separately and trying to understand what had happened. It was a difficult work environment as almost every time that someone worked they would be accused of stealing, regardless of whether they had been on shift when it happened or not.…

My game finally began to come around during the high school golf season of my junior year. I took home a share of the state title and it only got better from there. I went on to qualify for the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, the IMG World Junior Championship, and the Girls’ Junior America’s Cup in the same year. Although I did not place as well as I had hoped in those tournaments, it got me ready for other important tournament events in the future. My recent success landed me a spot on the University of Oregon’s golf team.…
