Should Students Allow Kids To Start School?
What an amazing school system! A child born on or before August 31st at 11:59pm is more socially and emotionally ready for school. Whereas, a child born merely a minute later, still needs more time to develop. Well, that’s what North Carolina State Board of Education (NCSBE) believes. North Carolina State Board of Education should allow kids to start school when they are ready because delaying them can result in them losing interest in learning, make them the older ones in class or heighten the chances of them dropping out. In 1975, North Carolina's policy use to be that a child who turned five by October 16, could enter kindergarten. It wasn’t until 2009

Schools shouldn’t start at later times. Schools shouldn’t do this because it would push back practice for school sports, parents would have a difficult time getting to work on time, and it’s harder for students to get home safely. If you had the choice, would you choose to sleep or go to school? Wouldn’t you want school to start later so you could get your nine hours? Well, it’s not as ideal as it seems. For the past few years, the Littleton Public Schools district, along with other school districts around the country, discussed the idea of the change of school start and end times. For the most part of this school year, the district has started to ask parents and students for their opinions and to come up with different solutions that will appeal to everyone. One of the biggest reasons that the district would need to change the times befalls the lack of sleep that students receive. Pamela McKeever, the leader of a study of adolescent sleep said that, "...research explains…

The sky is the limit for children. The benefits of children attending full day kindergarten are far greater than those children that attend half day. Some parents and educators disagree; they say that children should not be forced into their educational career so young. Whether for or against full-day kindergarten, the common goal for all parents is the well being for each individual child. Every child has different needs and capabilities. Parents have to make an informed decision on full day or half day kindergarten. That decision can be a difficult one. Ultimately that decision is the starting point for the next twelve or more years of education for these young children. Connecticut does not have a law mandating all towns have full day kindergarten. The budget process has to make full day kindergarten a priority. The curriculum for kindergarten is limited during half day sessions for children. Because of the time limitations during half day, these children are getting significant amounts of homework to bring home. Before and aftercare is needed due to the short school day for the half day kindergartners, causing parents to pay for childcare. The most important point is that children’s cognitive learning is so crucial at age five. They can absorb so much information at a kindergarten level. Taking advantage of that will give them the best opportunities for the educational career and give them a head start.…

In my school, we only have two days where we go outside for a recess. On a weekly basis, students lose their recess and end up sitting down watching the others play. Schools across the United States have taken away recess as a punishment for those who have misbehaved or haven’t finished their work. This punishment needs to abolished because according to the American Pediatric Association every student requires 15 - 20 minutes of outside time. Students who lose their recess are the ones who need it the most because recess provides a break for students so that they may refill their depleted self-control reserve, develop crucial social and communication skills, and enhance their memory and cognitive skills.…
