that lawmakers approved the law which stated that children will have to turn five by August 31 of the school year to be eligible to attend kindergarten in public schools (North Carolina Moves). According to WRAL.com, “Lawmakers moved the date up because they wanted students entering school to be more mature” (Earlier Kindergarten Cutoff).
North Carolina State Board of Education needs to change the cut off dates because those kids who are genuinely intelligent and advanced for their age are ready for school. They are being held back through no fault of their own.
