Schools strongly believe that tests scores fully reflect a student's knowledge and intelligence, but it does not. One of the problems that cause bad test taking is anxiety, according to American Test Anxiety Association high test anxiety reduces working memory, confuses reasoning, increases mistakes, and lowers test scores. Also this association states that about 16% to 20% of students have high test anxiety.
Test Anxiety affects students because when taking a test, they blank out and are not able to remember the information that they had studied. Now if schools decided on giving this kinds of bonuses, wouldn't it be unfair for students that suffer from this anxiety? How would they feel knowing that they could of get that cash bonus but they just were not able to because of this problem they face?
Cheating percentage and the unfairness of students who are not good test takers are just some reasons of why "cash prizes" will not benefit the students but it will only make an unfair environment for all the students.
