Should teachers be able to carry a gun on them during a school day working environment? With proper training and lessons.

There is a lot of stuff that has taken place lately around the country lately with a lot of different shootings from intruders and situations that have taken place from ISIS getting into the .U.S. terrorizing .U.S. citizens. Than on top of all that there was a intruder who go in too Eisenhower High School. And there is many things that have taken place around the world like the terrorist attack that happened to Paris France.

From everything that has happened lately around the country and around the world. In my opinion teachers should have the right to be able to carry a loaded weapon on them and take advantage of the right to be able to do so. It’s a right and a law that was

They should have these rights to protect students and or and their colleagues. Another reason let’s say an intruder does get into a school during sometime of the day and let's say he wasn't carrying a plastic toy weapon but he was carrying a real knife or he had a fully loaded gun in his position. And he was there to do harm to the students and teachers and staff there. Let’s say that intruder makes it fully into the school where you have classes in session. But then he see’s this classroom with a teacher and students and this class is in session of course we will call this room B203. But the students and that teacher in B203 don’t know that intruder is there even if they do know he is there and the school is on lockdown and that door is locked even if it is locked its not hard for that intruder to kick in the door or take his gun and shoot the lock off the door. After that the intruder gets in and he goes after that teacher first but that teacher has no protection to defend himself and his students following the situation the teacher gets hurt and students get hurt

In the late 90’s it wasn’t too common to hear about a student bringing in a loaded gun to school. In the case of the two students arrested on gun charges is a different story. It was the beginning of the school year, so there shouldn’t have been any quarrels. However, in Clearwater, Florida local high schools have been receiving bomb threats and fights have been breaking out at different schools in Pinellas County, Florida but that didn’t stop Christopher Bloom and Christopher Brown from bringing a gun to school. In our days it’s becoming more and more popular that there are people shooting up schools and malls. In the case involving two students arrested on gun charges one student had a .22 caliber handgun on the school grounds. The gun was found in Bloom possession. Bloom already has a prior record for…

When it comes to random student locker searches, I feel that all teachers have the responsibility to give any information that they may have concerning any illegal acts that their students are involved in. If this information leads to the administration searching that student’s locker, then it is being done to make sure all the students are being kept safe. I do not feel that anyone’s locker should be searched without a significant amount of proof or suspicion. It should not be done just because the student is considered a trouble maker. Though a student may be breaking the law or rules of the school, I feel that the student still has the right to have their privacy protected. When searching the locker, I feel that some discretion needs to be taken. Allowing the student body to know why and when another student’s locker is being searched would be, in my opinion, considered an infringement on their privacy. I feel that all of the students rights should always be protected. It goes with the old rule of thumb, innocent until proven guilty. Even when found guilty, the rights of the students should still be protected, but only to the extent that it maintains the safety of the student body. For example, if nothing is found during the search, not only could this be embarrassing to the student, it could also be an embarrassment to the school administration. On the other hand, if a gun were to be found in the student’s locker, then that student would not have the right to just leave the school. Their rights would be limited in order to keep the rest of the students safe.…

In the article “Armed to Teach: Argyle ISD Sticks to It’s Gun Policy” Selena Hernandez states that “it’s safe to say Argyle ISD is ready to start the school year with guns blazing. The district is on target to continue its new policy of allowing some teachers to pack heat on campus.” Hernandez also states that “gun-toting teachers must have and maintain a handgun license; pass a psychological evaluation; and undergo firearms and emergency response training.” This type of thing is very possible and obviously can be done. This might be a great model for other school districts around the country to…

Concealed carry anywhere has been a highly controversial topic for many years. In the back and forth of this heated debate, multiple subcategories have arisen. One of which is whether universities should allow student or staff to carry concealed handguns on campus. This is a strange debate topic because the obvious answer is no. Just a few of the reasons are an increase in crimes of passion, a possible increase in school shootings, and a high risk for robbery and assault.…

The majority of them said they don’t hope to be armed. Guns should not be in the hands of who don’t wish to hold them. It’s unreason to arm teachers when they don’t desire to. In the article, Montgomery writes, “Rep. John Legg, R-New Port Richey, who has taught in the classroom and now is a charter school administrator, said, "I'm not a fan of solving violence by escalating violence on an elementary school campus” (Montgomery). As the lesson that teachers always tries to teach their students, violence is not a way to solve violence. Arming teachers would also give the atrocious messages to the students that being violent is fine, which isn’t. In the article, the author writes, “72.4% of educators say they would be unlikely to bring a firearm to school if they were allowed to do so. 68% of teachers, faculty and education support staff opposed a proposal to arm teachers” (Guns and School Safety Survey Results). Some teachers are elderly. Many of them even have mental health issues. Not every teacher will successfully acquire the skills required to bring guns to school. Arming teachers would not reduce violent crime rate if strangers come to one of those…

Should college students and teachers have concealed weapons? A concealed weapon, or a concealed carry (CCW), is when an instrument or device, used for attacking or defending in combat, is hidden when in public. College students that are 21 years old, or above, can legally hold a concealed weapon. In order to carry a concealed weapons, one must purchase a permit and be a resident of their state or country. Schools should have the right to search the student’s bag on school grounds with probable cause because it could save lives or prevent some kids from doing drugs. So many school shootings have happened but think of how many more incidents would have happened if the school didn’t find out about a kid with a weapon. I hear on the news all the time that kids brought weapons to school but got caught before anything bad happened. Just today I saw that a student in Peterborough, N.H. brought a loaded handgun to ConVal High school and the administration got notified by an anonymous tip and the gun was seized before anyone was hurt. The student faces possible expulsion. If they couldn’t search him without a warrant than he most likely would have shot one or more of the students/teachers. When you enter school teachers and administrators basically become your parents and are…

If teachers were armed, it would help bring down the risk of school shootings. During a school shooting, seconds matter. When the police are contacted, it could take up to 15 minutes or more before they arrive. In all that time students and teachers are getting killed. Teachers want to carry guns to be able to prevent this. They feel that they should be armed to protect students. Kasey Hansen, on New York Daily News, said, “I think every teacher should carry a gun. W are the first line of defense. Someone is going to call the cops and they are going to be informed, but how long is it going to take for them to get to the school? And in that time how many students are going to be affected by the gunman roaming the halls?” Because of the many school shootings in the past, teachers feel they should be armed to decrease the risk of this happening and to protect students if it…

Most recently, in Tennessee, Governor Bill Haslam allowed a bill to become law, called SB 2376, that now allows full-time faculty at Tennessee's public state universities and colleges to carry handguns on campus. When the topic of discussion about if gun would be allowed, “The bill that the Republican governor allowed to become law had little opposition in both houses, easily passing 69-24 in the House and 28-5 in the Senate last month. The law will go into effect on July 1.” (Ghianni). The bill that now allows guns on campuses comes with many rules too. Students aren’t allowed to carry guns. Only full-time faculty are permitted to carry the weapon. This excludes any tutors or any part time teachers or workers at the school. This makes the right to carry a gun very exclusive. For the full-time faculty members, the law restricts them to bring their gun into gyms, stadiums, and hospitals. This keeps the weapons away from the areas that need to be kept safe. Places like gyms, stadiums, and hospitals are areas where safety can be handled by the appropriate security and not a teacher. Also for teachers to be able to exercise their right, "anyone carrying a gun under the new law must have a permit and notify local police or campus security, whichever has responsibility for law enforcement on campus.” (Ghianni). This means you must…

School campus’ have always been a large target for shooters and attackers. Students and teachers that have spent time to gain the trust of the government to conceal carry should also be able to holster on a campus without interruption. Many people will say having any weapons is a danger to students and any other pedestrians on campus but a law abiding citizen that has had training and known when a weapon should and shouldn't be used could be vital to saving the lives of many during a life or death situation. Shooters also knowing that this is true are a lot less likely to try and target a school knowing there is going to be resistance. Currently there are only twelve states (Idaho, Utah, Colorado, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Wisconsin,…
