Unfortunately, there are no myths associated with the Lupus constellation. However, there is a pretty interesting story of how it was first recognized as a constellation. was sacrificing to the nearby constellation Ara, or the alter. Lupus was not fully recognized as a constellation until a Latin translation of Ptolemy's work identified it as the wolf. However, then, the Greeks called it Therium, or Wild Animal, and the Romans called it Beastia, or beast.
For my own creation myth, I don't really have a great imagination, so you might think this story is a little pathetic.
Lupus used to be a great wolf clan leader. When he started his rule at the head of the clan, everybody doubted him, as he had often gotten into trouble as a pup, and was also a little scrawny. But Lupus had still inherited his father's position at the head of the clan, and when his father passed away at a young age, Lupus became leader. Lupus, although the other wolves of the clan didn't want to believe it, was a great leader. Lupus had been a silent pup, but also a great listener. Thus, Lupus knew what improvements, changes, and other things his clan wanted and needed. After a while, the clan was forced into liking Lupus's leadership. Then, Lupus lived to great age, and died peacefully, and his son became leader. Because Lupus had been such a great clan leader, the clan's wolf gods decided to put Lupus up in the sky so he could forever watch over his
clan.
