Similarities Between Romeo And Juliet
“If two people love each other there can be no happy end to it”(Ernest Hemingway). Love is bipolar in a way that one moment people are happily in love, and the next moment they hate one another. Over the centuries many people have tried to warn other people about loves true intentions, but they never listened. Love makes people do horrible things that they wouldn’t have normally done. The Trojan War was even fought because of a dispute over love. Love tries to corrupt as many people as possible so that it can have an impact on them. Both Shakespeare most famous play, Romeo and Juliet, and Andrew Tree’s article, ‘Romeo and Juliet’ has lead us astray, cations their readers about love, which compels people to make irrational decisions.

After their first encounter Romeo tries to talk to Juliet, but he is cautious of their parents feud and speaks to her from under her balcony: “But soft, what light through yonder window breaks?/ It is the east, and Juliet is the sun./ Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon,/ Who is already sick and pale with grief” (2.2.1-4). Romeo uses the extended metaphor to emphasis how Juliet has broken him from his heart broken daze. When he says, “It is the east, and Juliet is the sun” he is saying that Juliet is his light.     From the very beginning of the play (in the prologue), Shakespeare begins to create a sense of sympathy for Romeo and Juliet. Here, the audience is told that these two lovers are ‘star cross’d’ - meaning that their love goes against the stars and is therefore doomed to end in disaster. As a result, the audience watches the play with the expectation that Romeo and Juliet will both die, causing a sense of dramatic irony or foreshadowing. This subsequently makes the audience feel sympathy for Romeo and Juliet throughout the entire play, as they are in the knowledge that this hopeful relationship will end prematurely. In addition, Romeo and Juliet stand as two innocent figures amidst the violent feud between their two families.     Romeo and Juliet are that couple always standing in the middle of the hallway, locked in a tight embrace, mesmerized by each other and blind to the rest of the world. They’re so passionate and hopelessly attracted to each other that their minds can’t comprehend the hordes of people scrambling around them rushing off to class.
