Firstly, the Annex is close to the edge of the community in the movie, whereas it is closer to the center of the book. Secondly, Fiona is a nurturer in the movie while in the book she’s a caretaker of the old. Also, in the movie, Jonas’s mother is more strict than in the book. Another difference is how one's is twelve in the book, but in the movie, he looks about eighteen. Jonas and Gabriel have the lighter eyes in the book were in the movie they’re dark like everyone else's. Finally, an important difference is how Asher becomes a drone pilot in the movie while in the book he’s a recreation director.
In conclusion, “The Giver” book and movie have their similarities and differences. The movie doesn’t stay very true to the book but makes the story more interesting as a movie. The movie still holds true to the main plot as the book, but just adds some more exciting and dramatic moments. Overall the book and the movie of “The Giver” are both enjoyable in their own ways, but I personally like the book
