Question #1 A/B:

As a new student, I would have been advising Julie, since the start of her program in Level 1. I would begin by emailing Julie to provide an introduction of myself and spell out advisee/advisor expectations. At our first meeting, I would explain our roles, and allow Julie to verbalize understanding. By doing this, I would notice Julie’s grades and email her to schedule an appointment. In our meeting, I would discuss Julie’s grades with her, review her study habits, and offer helpful strategies. Also, I would have Julie complete the RCHC Developmental Plan for Improvement. This plan allows Julie to document appropriate strategies and measurable goals. I would review her Plan for Improvement to ensure that is continuing to follow the strategies we discussed. I would have her revise her goals and strategies to ensure she continues to be successful. I would also discuss her future and what areas of nursing she is interested in. Also, on Moodle, the Resources for Student Success is a site I would link her to. This site includes resources to help her with career planning, resume building, and job seeking. If she needed additional assistance, I would direct her to the Student Engagement Coordinator. I would provide a brief overview of Level 4 with Julie, and assure her this level will help her prepare for her future in nursing. Lastly, I would ensure Julie knows I am only a phone call or email
