Snitch Book Report
“And you know what they say about snitches? Snitches get stitches”(139). Snitching is never an option, especially when your school is run by multiple gangs. Julia Divino is a student at South Bay High who didn’t want anything to do with any gangs at her school, but soon that will all change when she meets this boy name Eric Valiente. Julia’s life all started changing when she warned Eric that his life was in danger. Although some people might not like the profanity used, Snitch by Allison Van Diepen is a book that you should read because it’s an addicting book and has good dialogue. First of all, some readers might not like how profanity is used in the book. For example when Toneya, Lisa, and Marta yell at Julia, “Whore! Skank! Snitch!

One reason why this is a good book to read is that the dialogue is valuable, it makes the reader visualize the action. One good quote from the book is when Julie was thinking during her beatdown, Julie thinks, “I felt every blow a fist in my jaw, my shoulder, a steel-toed boot in my shin. I felt their spit on my face. I felt a wad of gum pressed onto my hair. What the Fuck are they doing to me?”(140). In this quote, Julia is getting beat up by Maria and her Crip girls. A person who's been jumped before could relate how Julia was feeling when she got jumped by the Blood gang. With good descriptive details, it gives the reader an idea or visualization in their mind. Another quote that shows good dialogue is, “It all happened so fast. Eric got a punch in the face, then in the stomach. He stumbled back, dodging the next one, then came back fiercely, launching his weight at one of the guy’s, knocking him off his feet”(269). In the quote, Eric and Julia were ambushed by two Crip members. Although there is some violence in the book, the writer has given the reader some specific detail which made the book interesting. In conclusion, Snitch is a really good book that I enjoy. Snitch has shown me a perspective about life in high school in New York, Brooklyn. Snitch also taught me about never snitching, because sometimes it never end well. Overall it is a really good book that you should read, but some readers might not like the harsh language. I highly recommend this book to whom is reading this recommended
