Socrates And Judgment: Greek Philosophers
Judgment is everywhere, inside schools, in public, workplaces, and even inside churches. Judgment separates humans apart from other humans, making them feel less of themselves just for being the person the Universe created them to be. So many people have experienced and dealt with the judgment on an everyday basis, such as African Americans in the 1900s, Greek Philosophers, and even different religions. Judgment has been an ever-growing problem all across the world, still to this day. Every human being has their own rights, their rights to be themselves, judgment takes away those rights. On January 15, 1929, an African American baby was born into the King family; his name was Martin Luther King Jr. He was the leader of the Civil Rights act for nearly 13 years, delivering some of the …show more content…
A Greek Philosopher who was charged in the death penalty for his own beliefs. Little is known about the life of Socrates, what we do know about him has passed down from his students. Socrates was born in Athens, Greece in the era of 470 BC, (judgment has been around literally since the beginning of time!). Socrates practiced his own method of critical thinking, know known as the Socratic Method of logic and philosophy. Plato writes, Socrates would deny any type of payment for teaching his critical thinking skills to his students, he lived in great poverty. The Greek Government judged Socrates heavily for how and what he thought about. A former student of his had betrayed Athens, the government immediately blamed Socrates, saying that he taught disobedience to the government, when really Socrates simply thought deeper about things and shared his knowledge and thinking process with others. At the trial, Socrates lost the jury’s vote 280 to 221. He was sentenced to death by drinking a poisonous hemlock mixture, he was not afraid of death, and being a loyal Athenian, he drank the mixture
