Spaces for Rural management in the next decade
Introduction
Rural Management encompasses art, practice and knowledge contributed by Rural Management Practitioners to the society. As a practice, it is the specific application of business acumen with a developmental sensibility to solve problems of decision making, planning, organising and delivering desirable outcomes for rural interface organisations. As a teaching discipline, it is contributing sharing and inducing attitudes and lessons learned by the constituency of Managers mostly professionals from engineers, veterinarians and agriculture and allied disciplines involved in initiation, development and proliferation of White Revolution in India. Where as for researchers, a celebrity Indian innovation to be carried forward for wider and deeper search for purpose and application for enhancement of its body of knowledge.
HISTORY IN BRIEF
Rural Management as a PRM entrant to profession composed of bright young graduates of India – who were meritoriously successful , vigorously hardworking, willing to join the new institute and ready to undergo the after the training and deliver the first three formative years of the service career, under a re-deem able by Ford Foundation Grant to the participant upon successful completion of three years in then defined “sector’ organisations.
All these experimentations were experimentations as institute’s policy has been changing over the years .The sacrificial service and sweat bearings of the rural management community of its founders, ”post’ program practioners and its faculty brings rural management to the situation as perceived variously by some of us today. As the community put our heads together as to fix for ourselves the task now what needs to be done to establish the discipline.. .
