Statement Of Fashion Design
As an undergraduate student of fashion and textile design at Rachana sansad, the past 3 years have proved to be extremely valuable in helping me clearly define my future goals and career objectives.

Having witnessed first-hand the techniques of tie and dye , dabhu , kalamkari and various such arts I am drawn to techniques of traditional techniques surface ornamentation as well as eager to explore the new techniques introduced due to the advancements in technology.

Also my visit to Premiere vision, Paris was a huge motivation as I came across enormous kinds of textile, surface ornamentation, weaves, fabrics, prints and so on. All through my college years I was amongst the best students and topped every single year with distinction and a

I introduced certain different articles with my knowledge in craft and quilling and I was glad I was able to be of help to others in need. Keen to take my academic learning to the real world I started working as a Trainee in a company called Xpressions. There I handled online sales and was a part of the design team. I also got hands on knowledge about retail fashion. Major retail clients were Pantaloons , Westside and Shoppers Stop. Here I was introduced to the world of minimum investment and getting the maximum output out of it. Here I took the liberty to do a basic market research which helped the company in its sales. It was a very different side of fashion but a fun one. While I was working there as a junior designer cum sales coordinator, the company hit one of its highest sales in a period of two to three months. We also expanded our online sales to 3 more portals. Later I went on to work under a brand Pink Peacock Couture. Here I got hands on knowledge about dealing with pattern makers, tailors and craftsmen. I had to work from the idea to conceptualising it to sourcing raw materials, its entire journey from the workshop to the racks and then selling it to clients. I closely got to work with the drafter where I learnt how to communicate with them and what things to consider while designing. With the tailors I understood the different styles of stitching and draping and how they rectify a size problem. During my tenure we also applied for Lakme Fashion week where the entire digital portfolio was independently done by

At the Fashion Institute of Technology, I plan to accomplish numerous things, such as learning how to create paintings with different materials and innumerable delightful techniques. I relish using acrylic paints and watercolors. Many different materials are used in the fine arts curriculum. I believe that FIT will teach me not to give up and not to quit during a difficult task. The Fashion Institute of Technology can also help me realize my goal, which is to become a great artist. The curriculum for the fine arts program teaches 2D, 3D, sculpting and more. This would help me advance my artwork to another level. In my studio art class last year, I was taught a different style of painting, which was difficult for me. I learned about aboriginal art.…

While New York City’s zeitgeist instilled an appreciation for high-end fashion’s influence on the world’s perceptions of individuals, it was the Fashion Institute of Technology’s cutting-edge classes that turned my junior year entrepreneurial interests into a school based philanthropic business: Stuyvesant Fashion (SF) - a rapidly developed, school-wide enterprise that markets and sells exclusive student-designed clothing with profits directly transferred to a Stuyvesant fund for individual student’s needs (books, gear, fees, etc.).…

Like many children, I’ve had my fair share of ideas on who I wanted to be, what I wanted to do, and how I imagined my life to transpire when I “grew up”. A few ideas that popped into my head include but were certainly not limited to: a vet, teacher, doctor, nurse, chef, lawyer, actress, ballerina (which quickly faded due to my lack of interest in actually learning ballet), and many, many more. As much as these topics had intrigued me at one point or another, fashion had always seemed to be the interest I went back to after all of my other aspirations faded.…

My love affair with fashion started years ago, but over these past 2 years it has grown into something so beautiful. Fashion made it’s grand entrance in my life when I was looking over a Chanel catalog along with a few other designers. For example; Vera Wang, Louis Vuitton, Christian Dior, Marc Jacobs, Phoebe Philo, and many more. The designs caught my eye and I was just mesmerized by it all. It literally took my breath away! I always told myself and my family that I will grow to be an amazing fashion designer and sell beautiful, elegant clothing known to man. A worldwide known designer.…

I am the perfect candidate for the Fashion Institute of technology because I am inquisitive; I am always craving more knowledge no matter what the topic - I am a leader, I enjoy coming up with fresh, new ideas and I am an intensely passionate person. Though, unlike many other FIT applicants, I haven’t always had a “passion for fashion”. Growing up, I wanted to be an Architectural engineer. It wasn’t until someone close to me gave me my first Michael Kors handbag my 8th grade year that I began to develop the passion I have now. Handling this bag was when realized my obsession with high-end fashion was only beginning. I was amazed at the production work put into making the merchandise. Of course the beauty of fashion is interesting, but what…

I am interested in the fashion branch, especially to work with textile and making forms on the human body. However, I am even more attracted to the more timeless branch to textiles. The fast production and the “no-time to waste because then this fashion is out”, what is made by the big fashion concerns is what i do not like in fashion. This does not correspond with the current trend of a sustainable world. I think the focus is fashion should be on protection, functionality, sustainability, quality and advanced capability of cloths.…
