My love and care for others have prompted my decision to become a registered nurse. The idea of helping someone who’s potentially at the worst point in their life makes me so excited for my future. Nursing is more than just a career. You get the opportunity to touch others lives and to me, there’s nothing more rewarding than that. Not too long after completing my BSN, I would like to go to graduate school and become a nurse practioner. I want to work in a hospital, specifically in pediatrics. I would love the ability to help children.

Both, my mom and dad’s highest education level is high school. Even my aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents never attended college. My father continued the family tradition of farming, while my mom stayed home to take care of my sister and I. Being the absolute first person in my family to attend college will definitely have it’s drawbacks, considering nobody in my family knows how to help me with the college process, but in the end it will be such an honor to be a first-generation student. I have so much drive and motivation to obtain a college degree. A scholarship would help me significantly by allowing me to follow my dream of becoming a nurse. It would also help my family since they don’t quite understand college costs and are unable to
