Stereotypes And Groceries In Australia
I drive across town to buy groceries in a suburban shopping strip in Melbourne’s inner west. There are about ten shops run by Moslems and I get my vegies and groceries that are as good as those at Coles, but cheaper.

The girls at the counter smile and are efficient, and it costs about $3 in petrol for the trip but I save at least $15 compared to Coles or Woolworths.

I spent a good half hour saving money, greeting friendly shop owners and there is not a burka in sight.

Thankfully we have a migrants of all races in Melbourne who understand commerce. They are less plagued by issues such as drugs as our growing number of ice-addled, Aussies would give the country away for nothing more than a couple of hits.

True some bad apples are associated with all ethnic groups including Moslems, but most bad apples are of Australian origin with no work ethic, few positive values and an ingrained sense of entitlement.

It is fine to get drunk and brawl then they complain they had to wait for hours in the hospital emergency department.

It is fine to tell teachers to get stuffed in schools then they compalain there are no jobs for unqualified people. It is fine to abuse those stupid migrants who are insular and stick together as extended families, but they complain their single parent pension is not enough.

It is fine to have a half dozen kids from 6 different men, then the government won’t look after their kids by supplying teacher aids at school for poorly parented kids.

I could go on.

One word I rarely see in these threads is humility. That is as rare as hen’s teeth and without the humility to accept there is good and bad in every person, group, society and nation then we will argue and abuse each another ad

Australia is a modern multifaceted society, with many distinct demographics each with their own interests. In such a diverse society, it is impossible to expect complete harmony amongst every demographic, but ideally co-existence of all groups in a détente can be achieved through mutual recognition and communication. CLASS Australian society, quite distinct from it’s British heritage, is no longer a society that is primarily drawn along class lines. Where in the past class was one of the most significant issues in the…

Americans have a very typical stereotype which is seen across the nation. People in this country come from many different backgrounds and cultures which is what makes our country a melting pot. Yet, still in our country we see a divide between races and what people truly see as "American". Some believe that to be truly American you need to be white and born and raised in this country. Both Okita's poem and Cisnero's short story show that although you may come from a different cultural background it does not mean that you are un-American.…

A key element of what is presented to be the Australian character is that of camaraderie, base friendliness towards everybody, and egalitarianism, the belief that everybody is equal and should have the same opportunities, treatment, etc. as everybody else. As such, Australians are very supportive of democracy, compulsory voting, and are generally, in most cases, unprejudiced towards each other based on such trivialities as, for example, social class – everybody will kick back together at the pub for a ‘coldie' in that ‘typical Aussie scene', described so well in the quote by Australian legend Henry Lawson, one of the best-known Australian poets and fiction writers of the colonial period, when he said "The greatest pleasure I have ever known is when my eyes meet the eyes of a mate over the top of two foaming glasses of beer." Mateship seems to be so much a part of the Australian culture that Prime Minister John Howard even tried to make it part of the Australian constitution in 1999, when he wrote in the Draft Constitutional Preamble that "We value excellence as well as fairness, independence as dearly as mateship".…

Supermarkets are big self-service food shops (and not only food nowadays) where one can buy a lot of goods cheaper than at local grocer's. When people go to supermarkets or other large food stores they are often looking for bargains. By the way these shops are brightly lit and usually well laid out; pleasant music is always playing while you are walking along the shop. The goods are tidily arranged on trays and long endless shelves on which various prices are clearly marked. The shelves are well stocked with a wide selection of attractively packed goods. Everything from quick-frozen food to washing powder, from shoe-polish to new-laid eggs, from tinned fish to tooth paste can be bought there. All these things are displayed in such a way that people are often tempted to purchase things they don't need. It's a so called marketing trick; that's why it's better to make shopping list before going to a shop. With shopping list you can avoid several costly mistakes like impulse purchases that will run up your grocery bill and extra trips to the store. A shopping list can also help you to avoid overbuying perishables so that you can eliminate wasteful spoilage. After a person has found everything he needs he takes his trolley and goes to the cash…
