1. OUTLINE the strategies the campaign has used to bring change to an individual’s behavior.
In the Stop smoking and start repairing campaign the strategies that are being used is to show smokers, family and friends of smokers the positive effects of not smoking for 8 hours, 5 days, 1 week, 12 weeks, 3 months, 12 months, 1 year and 5 years. Another strategy is that it shows you that you get healthier and it shows that every cigarette you don’t smoke makes you healthier. This can help promote change in behavior …show more content…

The campaigns that I have chosen have been successful because of all the strategies that have been used in the campaign such as the use of awareness of the dangers that come from smoking and showing the positive effects of quitting smoking.
The campaigns aim to target smokers, friends and family of smokers and future smokers, culturally and linguistically diverse groups, pregnant women, prisoners, people with mental illness, and socially disadvantaged groups. The health issues that are involved in the campaign are lung cancer, blindness, cardiovascular dieses, cerebral thrombosis, high blood pressure, muscular degeneration, bad breath and stain on teeth and gums. More deaths are caused each year by tobacco than suicides, alcohol, HIV, drug abuse, murder and vehicle related deaths combined. Postmenopausal women who smoke have lower bone density than women who never smoked.
The campaign has achieved many great things such as providing people knowledge of the harmful effects of smoking and the positive effects of quitting and this has resulted to thousands of Australians to stop smoking, saving money and living a healthier lifestyle. Research has shown just by calling the help line people are more likely to quit and by participating in the Quitline’s free call back service a smoker’s chance of quitting would double.
