Before starting this assessment, I fully expected the results of this assignment to be completely off from how I see myself as a leader. I tend to overthink surveys and assessments like these. I was surprised to see that many of the chosen themes matched my personality and leadership style. As I grow as a leader I hope to develop other traits and leadership themes.
Theme Expectations
There were a few themes that were not in my top five I expected to see before the assessment, starting with Empathy. As a leader, I have prided myself on being a confidant, someone my team could come during a difficult time. Over the last few years I have learned how important it is to understand how everyone is different and what that means in a team. Everyone learns differently and everyone needs different kinds of development and recognition to keep them motivated. Understanding this and beginning to individualize my processes helped to improve so many of my team members. After tailoring myself to fit their needs moral improved significantly. As important as this is, there are issues with this theme as well. You should find a balance between individualizing enough to help your team, and treating others so differently that they would see it as favoritism of some sort.
Input
Input is simply craving information can help you succeed in many ways, but it can also keep you from finding happiness. This theme rings true for me in many ways. Both in my professional and personal life I have always sought out more information. The need to learn everything I can about fraud started years ago, then at some point going beyond that to learn what I can about finance, then the law.
