When Trumpets Fade Vs Bonhoeffer

How can we as humans examine and improve our leadership skills? How much can we actually change about our leadership and how much is inherent to our personality? These are questions that have been asked repeatedly through time and the answers of which are contentious and debatable. As I examined the leadership of several characters, those are questions that I found myself asking. One possible answer I came up with was to hypothetically imagine yourself in certain situations and consider the possible outcomes. How do the potential outcomes effect the decisions you make? Do the potential outcomes effect our decisions at all? As I ask this about the characters I analyzed, I hypothesize the answer to vary based on the leader and the situation.
When Trumpets Fade is a movie about A Private named David Manning who is involved in the battle of Hurtgen Forest during World War II. Private Manning attempts to get out of the fight and go home, even claiming he is mentally unfit; he is instead successively promoted and moved in to positions of greater responsibility. Bonhoeffer: Agent of grace is based on actual events surrounding Dietrich Bonhoeffer during World War II in Germany. Bonhoeffer is a theologian who opposes the Nazi regime in Germany and takes a stand for what he believes in. I chose these two movies because they were two movies that I had never seen and they were recommended by the Warrant Officer Career College. I have seen many movies with military and leadership themes and many of them initially came to mind when considering what to analyze for this assignment. However, I was intrigued by the recommendation of two movies I had never seen, one of which I had never even heard of.
