This program stands out to me for a number of reasons. The challenging curriculum required by ASU’s Professional School Counseling program is reflected in the high success rate of the student’s employment after graduation. I am seeking a learning environment with small class sizes that support connections and mentoring from faculty. Finally, I am interested in learning developmental programs to implement into the school system. This graduate program could help me further my knowledge of human development, cultural diversity, career development, and counseling along with the ability to apply the material with the students. By working with a diverse age group of students, I have found that I enjoy my time with older students the most. Though I communicate well with all age groups, the problems faced by secondary school students interest me on a greater level. Helping students apply to colleges and create student schedules, along with motivating them to excel in their future, are all tasks that I can see myself enjoying and doing well at.
