Stuff is going to happen. Stuff is going to get in your way. Stuff is always in my way and always has me in my feelings. I hide from the world because I don’t want anybody seeing me hurt. These mad faces are the faces that get me through the day because if I said what I wanted or did whatever I wanted to people I would probably be dead or I would be in jail by now. That’s why I’m glad to have my mom, my brothers and my girl. They are everything I care about. They are what I risk my freedom for. They are the reason I have my way of life, my space, and even the things I eat. I wasn’t always smart, well not as smart as others, and I accepted that early and gave up. So really when I say I DON’T KNOW HOW I GOT HERE, I don’t. But I did make it here and I’m about to be out of school in just a few weeks. I’m coming from struggling to read and write, but overcoming it by making it happen. I put in some time. Not all the time, but most of the time I try to do the right thing and stay in school. I listen to my mama and my teachers who tell me to keep my head on, stay on track and think before I react. Trust me, I came a long way through trouble and I am not trying to go back. I’m just trying to sit back and
