It’s important to discuss how one should teach and prepare to teach how to integrate discussions and strategies in our practicum classroom. In our discussion groups, we were all prepared and able to support each member ideas about how to incorporate ideas and different components in the classroom to teach students how to solve mathematical problems. In the beginning, teachers should open math discussions by allow students to share thoughts, ideas, or reasonings by using prior knowledge or related connections. When teachers open discussions, teacher should be ready for students to solve using different strategies on how the student understands and comprehend the problem. Also, writing down how students solve the problem on the board for students to visually see how that child solved the problem help students participate in the discussion. In my practicum classroom, my teacher emphasize that math discussions should be achieved with goals, planning, and leading the discussions differently. Working on discussion in my practicum classroom some students need help knowing that these are beneficial for them to know what and how to share their answers and solution. My teacher communicates with all the students in the discussion to allow students to participate and be active in the lesson.
