Summary Of Nature's Weed Weed Eater
Response Essay The article that I chose to write about was called, “Nature’s Weed Eater’s.” This article was about a lady named Elaine who was looking at a newspaper and seen an ad about using goats to manage rough areas. At the time, Elaine had two children ages six and eight, a husband who traveled for work, and a full time job of her own. However, when she seen the ad, she instantly wanted to put her four goats to work. She called the number in the newspaper ad and instantly put her goats to work at a local golf course. Before Elaine took off with her goats, she weighed the pros and cons with her husband and he reminded her that she had a full time job and that he traveled for work. Elaine was so determined to do this that she loaded her four goats up in her Toyota Highlander and took off to the golf course. After being in the Goatscaping business for a couple of years, Elaine now has fifty seven goats and …show more content…
The first quote that I want to talk about is where she states, “I was a wannabe farmer with no land and only four goats that I kept at Colchester Neighborhood Farm in Plympton, where I had a CSA vegetable share.” I chose this quote because I think that it really shows that Elaine had never thought about using her goats to clear rough areas until the ad in the newspaper caught her eye. I think that this really shows that the sky is the limit for anything that a person wants to do. The second quote that I picked to really show Elaine’s dedication to her goats is how she stated, “I loaded my four goats in the back of my Toyota Highlander and put my solar-battery fence charger and electric net fence in the backseat-and just like that, I was in business!” The reason that I chose this quote is because I think that it shows how dedicated Elaine was to get her goats started. Also, instead of hauling them in a trailer, she just put them in the back of her SUV and off she

The Neighborhood Newspaper reported a ravaging forest fire that lasted for five days. Due to an early start to a windy season, the fire consumes faster than the firefighters expected and it became harder to contain. The fire is destroying the land and causing irreversible damage. The city officials are reporting that citizens are not in direct danger and will notify the residents if the fire gets closer to the town. The second article [At times, your tone is too informal and conversational for academic writing. The story I chose was “Women Hollering Creek” by Sandra Cisneros which tells a story of Cleofilas, a woman who tries to emulate the life she sees on television and on soap operas. She leaves her home in Mexico and marries a man who takes her to Texas. He works a low paying job and beats and cheats on her, even when she giving birth to their children. Cleofilas, comes to see this is not the life she wants to live. She is living isolated from her family with no friends or community to help her when she needs it the most. She comes to see that the soap operas she has grown to watch throughout her life, our actual lies and that life does not imitate art. She finally comes to conclusion that she must leave her husband because of the way he treats her and she longs to be back in Mexico with her father and family. She gets help from some kindly strangers who help her escape her abusive husband. She seems to marvel at one of the strangers that helps her, Felice, who drives a pickup truck that she pays for herself. She sees in Felice, what she wants, to have life of her own that is not dependent on a man. T…

Comedy is a form of cognitive reappraisal, which Drew Hayden Taylor effectively integrates throughout Motorcycles and Sweetgrass to address tragic issues. Personally, I agree with Thomas King, that bombarding the reader with tragedy only results in their lack of interest. I believe that Taylor masters the use of humour to introduce sinister issues; he uses humour as a lubricating tool to ease the tension of the plot and maintain the readers engagement. Particularly, in chapter fourteen, I was intrigued by the way that Taylor glazes over the concept of the fallibility of humanity through Virgil's visit with Wayne. Due to their lack of knowledge, Virgil, and sadly, the entire population of Otter Lake, fall victim of humanity’s tendency to judge…

Learning Objective: The goal of this two day exemplar is to give students the opportunity to use the reading and writing habits they’ve been practicing on a regular basis to unpack Pollan’s investigative journalism of industrial farms. By reading and rereading the passage closely combined with classroom discussion about it, students will identify why and how farming practices have changed, as well as identify Pollan’s point of view on the subject. When combined with writing about the passage and teacher feedback, students will begin to appreciate investigative journalism, as well as question from where their food is coming.…

This article though could have appealed a tiny bit more to the life of less privileged kids in New York, although it mentioned the phone trucks it could have used more perturbation in some of the paragraphs. The wealthier children in various parts of New York did not have to pay to place their phones in these storage trucks but rather they could merely just shove it in their pocket and not get caught. I thought this was quite unfair , in your article I noticed many of weasel words and persuasive techniques you used to convey your own point of view.…

It was a crisp, but sunny May morning at the goat show and both little Spotlight the goat and owner were anxious yet excited for the show. The time was around seven am and the sun was just starting to rise over the beautiful Virginia Mountains. The humidity was low and this was going to be the first show that Spotlight was going to be shown in, as show season had just begun and little Spotlight was only three months old. There were almost sixty other goats peeking over their stall walls in the barn, to see what their owners’ had in store for them. Most goats knew the every weekend show routine but to little Spotlight, this was all new. The only dread of this show was another goat owner and her goat Prim.…
