Summary Of Our Semi-Literate Youth Not So Fast
In Andrea Lunsford’s essay “Our Semi-Literate Youth? Not so Fast.” tells the reader that when college-age students or students in general abuse technology, they are prone to become semi-literate. As of matter of fact, Lunsford demonstrated a survey research and came to a conclusion that technology benefits the writing skills of the youth. Lunsford states, “So yes, these students did plenty of emailing and texting… But rather than leading to a new illiteracy, these activities seemed to help them develop a range or repertoire of writing styles, tones, and formats along with a range of abilities” (page 571). The first point being made is that some scholars say that students no a days have a more enhanced skill for writing. In other cases some are saying, by using online blogs and/or tweeting can cause a student to form bad writing habits and become less efficient in a classroom setting.
