Surviving In A Life-Or-Death Situation
You are in a life-or-death situation with your friend, but only one person has a chance of surviving the situation, what will you do in that situation? Would you sacrifice yourself for your friend or would you let your friend die? Consequently, should people be held accountable if they were in a life-or-death situation, they should be held accountable for their actions. Therefore, people that have a lack of judgment, will suffer from survivor guilt, and don’t want to pay the cost of rescues should be held accountable for their actions.

To begin with, life-or-death situations are caused by people that lack judgment skills and a lack of training. Lack of training and lack of skills is very common, even in places where there could be possible life-or-death situations, such as in Alaska.“Today...people,including most Alaskans, live in urban environments and grow up in an urban culture, wilderness skills are never learned.” (A quote from, “Survival Is Your Own Responsibility”). Nowadays, people rely on electronic communication to get

People will argue this because what if this wasn’t one of their best days, with bad luck, and accidentally wound themselves in a life-or-death situation. Such as, “Some people wind themselves up in trouble because of bad luck…” (A quote from The Cost of Survival). People will also argue that what if the price for being rescued isn’t that expensive. Such as, “We’re out here to save lives. You can’t put a price on that.” And, “...taxpayers cover the cost of the rescue for those who put themselves at risk.” (Both quotes from The Cost of Survival). I can understand why people may argue this, but other people whose choices were dangerous and their reckless behavior, will have to pay for being rescued. Such as, “...hikers who get lost or injured because of reckless behavior can be billed for rescue services.” (A quote from The Cost of

There are times when people are put in the position in which they must choose between being selfless and helping others or not doing anything and only worrying about themselves. If the people choose to disregard their own safety and put another person’s life before theirs, it shows how ethically responsible they are. For an action to be ethically responsible, it must be done out of someone’s own intention to ensure the wellbeing of someone else. Ethical responsibility is defined as the obligation to do something that is morally sound in order to make sure a person is in good physical and emotional health. In the article titled, “Can the Law Make Us Be Decent?,” written by Jay Sterling Silver, the author states that there is not a federal…

The U.S system of proposing ethical responsibility symbolizes some flaws as an official duty is “Under American law, liability generally exists for action, not inaction. We are each responsible for the harm we cause to others due to the lack of reasonable care” (Allred and Bloom 1). In this example, the U.S demonstrates that by establishing ethical responsibility as a law. Additionally, the United States will take the people’s responsibility for granted because they are forcing them to always be ethically responsible no matter the circumstance. Therefore, the U.S system should allow people to know when to be ethically responsible through their heart’s desire instead of doing it as a fixed political obligation. On the contrary, if our country’s legal system does not give reasonable consequences for not providing the best effort in solving a crucial circumstance, then people would have no true emotions. In most countries, people sometimes demonstrate themselves as true beings because they act in several ethically responsible ways in solving dire situations through non-motivations. One of the few reasons that people randomly demonstrate their act of being an ethically responsible person is “we see that compassion is deeply rooted in our brains, our bodies, and in the most basic ways we communicate; what’s more, a sense of compassion fosters compassionate behavior and helps shape the lessons we teach our children" (Gregoire 1). In this example, it represents how people randomly commit into doing something ethically responsible due to people having compassion as their hidden quality. To conclude, people’s compassion is their hidden quality of doing something really ethically…

As the human race we stand strong as individuals, together, and for survival. In most recent events my team and I have been tested to the fullest max of survival for the fittest and have been forced to make strong decisions that test our minds, morality, values, and ethics as a human being. We are trapped in a fallout shelter and it is not safe for us to leave. Therefore, we are trapped in this shelter for at least six months. Luckily, we do have enough food, water, and other facilities to help our group during this time. However, we are still faced with a very difficult decision that none of us were prepared for. There are nine people in another shelter close by who have survived their provisions but it has become apparent that there is only enough water to keep four of the members of that group alive for six months. The other group has realized they are unable to make the decision on which four members they should get rid of and have asked us for their help. Since push has come to shove and our world of survival has been challenged we must make these decisions promptly and without question. The other team is similar to ours and consists of nine individuals:…

If you were on a boat and you had to take one person with you who would you take? The rich person might be saved because they have money. The poor guy would be at a disadvantage because he has nothing to give you if you save him. If the poor guy had to pay for a surgery and he could not pay for it right then and there, but the rich guy could the rich guy would get the surgery before the poor guy. In the article “What is The Value Of A Human Life?” By: Kenneth Feinberg is say “The law required that I give more money to the stockbroker, the bond trader and the banker than to the waiter, the policeman, the fireman and the soldier at the Pentagon.” The law wanted the people who made a lot of money to get a higher compensation then the policeman and firefighters who rush in there to saves the life of other people. This is wrong because the policemen and firemen put there self in danger when they go on a call, they did not have to be a firemen or police officer. The people who was the stockbroker did not put there self in danger so the firemen and policemen should get paid more than the other people that did nothing but…

To conclude this argument, I do not think that rescue services should have to save people that put their own life at risk.
