team building essay
In our life, we are always facing new experiences either in school, at home, or in the workplace. I am twenty five years old now and I have faced many experiences and challenges that I probably forgot about them. In fact, the best experience that I had in my life is when I was a candidate for the municipal elections in my country four years ago. This was for me the best challenging involvement in my life. This was in 2009 where the municipal elections took place in my neighboorhoud. I was a member of a political party called PPS (PARTI pour le PROGRES et le SOCIALISM).Back then, my age was 21 years old and I was selected to be part of the candidat because this was a strategy of the political parti to bring young people and new vision for our district in Rabat called HAY Riad. The election campaign lasted ten days. In fact, we were five candidates from the same parti to compete with others since only five candidates had the right to be elected. Personally, I was happy, motivated but at the same time I xas worried to disappoint my district and afraid from our competitors because in politics we have to deal with different type of people even those that might be hypocrit to you during all the campaign period. Therefore, in order to compete in an effecient way, we had to set a strategy to follow. First, we nominated a director for our campaign who was experienced in this field. He set up a planning for us for the whole ten days of our campaign. Then, he started puting a map of our area in the office we used to meet in . He divided the neighboorhoud into five parts in which each of us was leaving. Then , he set a strategy to reach the whole electors within ten days. Everyday, we met in front of his office at 8 am in order to get our daily tasks and at the end of the day we were required to handle a report with our feedback and results in order for him to see if the strategies fit with our objectives. I can’t forget my first day where I had to knock on the door of

Effective working relationships are the cornerstone for building and maintaining a successful team. Good team communication provides direction, vision and motivation to the members of the team. Team communication can be the sending or receiving of messages to or from management, between team members or from one team to another. Effective team communication increases team members' effectiveness and satisfaction because they are given the appropriate guidelines, tools and direction on how to accomplish tasks. The team needs to trust and be completely open with each other. By doing this they are able to know what each other are doing and what they expect of one another. Feedback from a manager and also from fellow colleagues is also important. This increases motivation and also provides the team with direction and support. Effective teams share a common goal or objective and everyone in the team buys into these goals. Each team member of the team needs clear roles. This improves the working relationship as everyone knows what role they are doing. Within Cheltenham Racecourse we try to divide the temporary staff into separate departments. We have separate portering, catering, stewarding and technical teams. By doing this everyone has clear roles and knows what they are doing. As much as we can we keep the same people doing the same roles as this helps form a team and the longer they work together the more effective their working relationships are. Every morning / start of an event we hold a catch up meeting to run through what needs to be done during the day. We set targets for the day and this challenges the team and helps them work together towards these common goals. To help improve communication everyone is issued with a radio at the…

This approach to leadership is quite interesting and has influenced me because in the latter part of my career in the Navy, I see this type of leadership style more and more. Many people may think of the military being as part of a big team; and they are correct in many cases, but there is a lot of individualism as well. It was not until technology and increased tracking of policies and programs that I started to notice and be a part of project management, task force, and improvement teams. This was not commonplace in probably the first half of my career. Northouse (2012) emphasized additional types; “Examples of such teams include project management teams, task forces, work units, standing committees, quality teams, and…

Running a political campaign is one of the most challenging and exhausting activities possible. Running a typical campaign will mean 12+ hour long work days for several months. On Election Day, either you win, or you and your entire campaign team are fired. As you approach the final days of the campaign, this creates a huge amount of stress and pressure for success. While nothing can eliminate the stress of the countdown to Election Day, the proper organization of a political campaign can avoid some unnecessary challenges. For my ethnography I decided…

In a care oriented environment, to achieve any worthwhile results, one must work as part of a team. Great practice is a fine thing but unless it is part of a communicative, dynamic team then it falls down as soon as the practitioner finishes their shift. As Adrian Ward in 1993 puts it “Teamwork should never be regarded as an optional extra in this sort of work, it is the heart of the matter.”…

This reflective writing is about the qualities of good candidates, good campaign managers and campaign workers. Reading the Chapter 1 of the book Winning your Election the Wellstone Way allowed me to further extent my knowledge regarding the qualities of good progressive candidates, campaign managers and workers. For me, the key takeaways from the readings were the need for campaigns to maintain discipline and that campaign strategy must accompany the candidate’s authenticity. In the book, Winning your Election the Wells Stone Way, Blodgett and Lofy (2008) mention that “along with hard work comes discipline, or staying focused on a plan, strategy, and timetable”…

To complete the group evaluation form several factors were considered to evaluate the overall performance of the group. This consists of determining the contribution of each group member to produce a high-quality final product. In particular, communication between each person needed to be considered as this correlated with the amount of work they provided. Attitude is an additional factor that is very important as the members that had a negative attitude would often avoid doing work which caused them to produce low quality work. Completing this assessment task enabled me to have a deeper understanding of the efficiency of the group by evaluating each member. For instance, I learnt that where there was a lack of communication within the group,…
