Team Nursing Care Delivery Model
Nursing care delivery is defined as the way task allocation, responsibility, and authority are organized to achieve patient care.There are four well-defined and widely used traditional nursing care delivery system and each systems types is as follows, functional nursing, team nursing, primary nursing and patient-centered care nursing.
I am currently on a gen- surge ward, while there I have observed that they are using the team nursing care model. Team nursing is a care model that uses a group of people led by a knowledgeable nurse. In the team, the registered nurse (RN) functions as a team leader and coordinates the small group of workers consisting of ENA’S (enrolled nursing assistance), PCA’S (patient care assistance) and students provides

Educate the staff on equipment to reduce bedsore on the skin such as water-filled gloves, ripple mattress and the pressure sore device for heals and elbows. The staff must do frequent observation of the part identified to be at risk and must document in the patient notes and turning chart their finding. If notice possible or actual signs of damage, the staff nurse in charge should be inform, the doctor will be informed and patient will be review. All treatment must be documented in the patient nursing notes.
The advantages of team nursing is usually associated with democratic leadership. It allows members to contribute their skills or their own special expertise. As team leaders, they should use their knowledge about each member's abilities when making patient assignments. Recognizing the individual worth of all employees and giving team members autonomy result in job satisfaction.
In team nursing, the registered nurse is able to get work done through others. Each member of the team is able to participate in decision-making and problem solving. Team nursing is an effective method of patient care delivery. The team nursing also improved patient satisfaction and able to identify personnel who are responsible for the care.
