Technology Should Be Taught In Schools Research Paper
Students should be allowed to use educational technology in schools across the nation. Such as using apps on computers or cell phones to study for upcoming test or quizzes. Students should be able to access knowledge from all over the world not just one classroom. Also there is a greater chance of the students being engaged if technology is introduced and regularly used. Technology is a thing that should be embraced in school not banished.

Technology is evolving all the time it is now to the point where even education can be achieved by using it. There is now a market specialized for educational apps such as Kahoot. Kahoot allows students to study by playing games and challenging other classmates. Other apps like Quizlet allow students to create their own test, flashcards, and games by letting them input the material they want to study. This allows students to study what they need to based on their personal challenge not what a another person needs. No matter what the age all students can benefit from using technology, even elementary schools students can play simple adding and subtracting games.

When going into a restaurant there is very great possibility that you will see half the people using some type of technology. The mass majority of teenagers in the United States are excited about new technological advances most adults will say that teens are the masterminds behind it. In Mizuko Ito Et Al’s article “new media allow for a degree of freedom and autonomy for youth that is less apparent in a classroom setting” I believe that with the use of technology we can do anything we put our minds to. The technology allows for people who can not go to school or can not afford it, can go somewhere else to get that information. It also allows to give feedback and opinions on topics that might benefit others. I believe there will not be a need from a classroom and a teacher. The information will be on the internet.…

According to the YouTube video "Cell Phones in School", it states how having internet at the fingertips of students, it can bring the curriculum further and more in depth than the textbooks allow. Having the curriculum at a student's fingertips, adds so much more than the textbook could possibly provide the student with. Moreover, adding to the student's overall understanding and insight on the lesson could lead to better test scores and overall grades. So if the use of cell phones could possibly help a student excel in the classroom, the cell phones policy should be reevaluated to better the school. Since the internet is at the student's fingertips, it can help a struggling student better understand the material, allowing them to excel in class. The video also states how students are able exchange and share information faster. The use of the internet too, will lower the needs for computers. The diminishing use of computers will also the school to save money in that department and apply it somewhere else. In addition, phones allow for many other uses, besides the internet. Phones can be used for my other features, such as the calculator, the timer, and video. When performing an experiment, videos can be taken to record the experiment to be watched again, or even slowed down to better see the outcome. Moreover, the timer application can be used to keep time for activities and experiments, and the calculator is there to do the quick math, when…

Tim Wilson, a technology- integration specialist from a high school in Minnesota asked “how do we communicate with students today who have grown up with technology from the beginning?” (Source B). The answer is astoundingly simple. Talk to us. Speaking to each other will always be the best form of communication possible- and it’s free. It is up to teachers to engage their students, and present information in creative ways. Limited technology could be useful, and prepare kids for the adult world, though the focus in classrooms should always be the teachers, so that students learn respect and can lengthen their attention span.…

Like any situation, there are pros and cons to both sides of the argument. According to Barshay (2014), “We had the money to buy them, but maybe not the best implementation. It became unsustainable” (p 1). Barshay is referring to a school in New Jersey that was able to acquire technology; however, they did not know how to properly use it in the classrooms. Not knowing how to integrate modern technology into a classroom setting is not a good enough reason to say giving students laptops is a bad idea. According to Hertz (2007), “The first step in successful tech integration is recognizing the change that may need to happen inside of yourself and in your approach to teaching” (p 1). Hertz argues that it is in fact possible to integrate technology into the classroom if the teachers are open to learning new ways to teach while incorporating technology. Another concern is addressed by Winnie Hu in an article about laptops in the classroom. Hu (2007) says, “The students at Liverpool High have used their school-issued laptops to exchange answers on tests, download pornography and hack into local businesses” (p 1). This article addresses some concerns that parents and teachers have about how much access their children are receiving. While it is possible to get distracted in class and find it tempting to share answers or look at inappropriate things such as pornography, it is…

Did you know that more than half of the world’s students are using tablet computers? To all the students out there who are not lucky enough to even use a computer (at home or at school), I am deeply sorry for you since half of the people that are at the same age as you are surrounded by information, and are improving their knowledge of the world everyday. No worries! After this speech you will have all the rights to go against who ever would not let your school have laptops/computers. "How is it possible to convince my headmaster to let us have computers in school?” A Chinese proverb once said: “Do not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in a different time.” It clearly states how the minds of the elders and the juniors are so different since they were born in different times or even centuries. Would you rather listen to a person who has a mind to create more possibilities and not stick to the old rules or a person who sticks any same old rules that their elders once told them and rule the school? I bet you most people would choose a person who creates more possibilities than an old man who sticks to the rules and not let the school have technology. I mean, what is the point of a school, which only has books and pencils, and never interact with visual presentations; it would make the students lives in to hell! When they grow up, what job would require them to only write in books and pencils? If your child does not know anything about technology, what can they even be when they grow up? Nothing is my answer to that. You might say an architect, but sadly, they do use computers too, since after they finish the planning and design of the building, they would have to scan it on a computer and send it out to the managers. Our lives depend on technology and computers. Kids in school used to write on paper and read out of books But the fact is, more and more kids in school…

In today’s society, our century’s technology isn’t being taken to its advantage the way past generations would have used it for. According to “The dumbest Generation” Mark Bauerlin says “Young Americans have much more access and education than their parents did” (Source A). When our parents were our age, the use of internet or technology something they could rely on. They had to learn at school the hard way. To do research, they probably had to go through books to get their background knowledge. To do a math problem, it had to be done all on paper without the use of a calculator. To simply look up how do to a certain task, YouTube or the internet wouldn’t be available to them. Now, a child has these opportunities to their advantages, but are they being used for education purposes? No because chances are they’re busy on the…

Some people may argue that when using technology students will break the rules and not do what the devices are meant to be doing. Students are responsible enough to be trusted to do the work they are assigned, with the assistance of an electronic device. The schools that do believe in using technology to assist students, put rules in place to discipline students doing the wrong thing. If a child decides to break the rules then they will miss out on an education, so if they get a bad mark it will be their own fault for using their resources incorrectly. Students marks reflect on the way they used the technology, so they're effectively deciding what grade they receive by the way they use their device.…

Technology can be a very horrible thing to give to a child or teen in some cases if they have not showed themselves responsible enough at the house. Like if they are always on it in the house and never can take a break from it that clearly shows that if you allow them to bring it to school they will always be on it and not be disciplined enough to know when to get off of it. Which would just end up giving them stress and fortunately…

I have a 6-year-old son who is in Kindergarten and once a week they have Access to a computer where they learn how to operate the internet system. We did not have that when I was in school (well at least not Kindergarten). I believe that it is our responsibility to educate ourselves along with our children on all the new technology that has cameo us in the last 20 years not to mention everything that is continuing to be presented and will be presented in the future. I feel like our schools should be more involved in providing computers and notebooks to students so they can be up to speed on the latest technology. I feel like that would help them after high school or college to become more capable in the work force. I also feel that it would help and benefit employers because they would know that they are getting a qualified employee and someone that they will not need to training or spend time or money on to teach them the skills needed to perform the job they were hired to do. In return, that would save the companies Money and they could pass that savings on the employee by paying them a high wage and by hiring more employees at the same time. That would create a more stable economy in the end.…
