Thanksgiving Informative Essay
Thanksgiving is considered by many as being the worse meal of the year. Why? Because of the extreme overload of high-starch carbs that trigger blood sugar spikes for so many people. Just think of it. Pumpkin pie with a scoop or two of ice cream, corn bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, sugar-laden cranberry sauce and green bean casserole, that's why.

When that protein-rich turkey combines with carbohydrates, the over abundance of the amino acid tryptophan found in both classes of food produces heavy drowsiness.

One Hour After A Thanksgiving Meal

Just one hour after the meal, a lot of things happen, and not too many of them are conducive to good health.

When eaten at night, with half a glass of warm milk or a piece of cheese, bananas can safely induce deep sleep in many people. If accompanied by a few nuts, such as almonds or walnuts, your chances of falling asleep and staying asleep are even better. (4)

Your best, overall bedtime snack will consist of protein, such as a slice of turkey breast, or peanut butter spread on a piece of apple or banana. This writer's favorite snack are four to seven walnut halves with a piece of cheese. (5)

As for Thanksgiving meal, don't skip it. Simply modify it a bit. Focus on the protein, low-starch carbs such as collard greens or green beans and one thin slice of pecan or pumpkin pie. Oh, yes. Remember to be grateful for your many blessings and enjoy!
