It is an exciting adventure for most students in Oxford Brookes to leave home and study in a new country . Although they have planned and prepared for some problems , they may be surprised by changes. For example, they may find British food strange compared with food in their own country. If they live in self-catering accommodation, they have to cook for themselves(quoting International students and culture shock). The aim of this essay is to explore the eating patterns of students at Oxford Brookes. Furthermore, the main purpose is to understand whether the diet of students is balanced and healthy.
Methods
The essay investigates the eating habits of students at Oxford Brookes. Collection data come from research which was obtained through a self-devised questionnaire that included 8 questions related to student diet. The questionnaire(consulting Organic Consumers Questionnaire) was conducted by asking students at random on the campus to answer the questions. 20 students (including 7 British students and 13 International students) took part in the survey on Tuesday 4 April with an equal population of female students and male students. Afterwards, the data were analyzed and the findings were written.
Findings
Among the students investigated, the percentage of students who favored British foods was 65%, whereas 35% of students said they disliked British foods. Students were next asked about where they often have breakfast. 55% chose ‘accommodation’, 25 % selected ‘canteen’ but 20% of students who are all male answered that they have no breakfast.
