The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit has endured much confusion over the history of the church some even minimize His purpose by downgrading Him to an undefined characteristic of God. As an important part of the trinity, the Holy Spirit is not an optional part of the tri-unity of God. He is an integral essential member in terms of His relationship to God the Father, God the Son, and humanity. The Holy Spirit in the original Greek is called the Paraclete which means one called alongside to help. This is exactly what the Holy Spirit does he is involved in the lives of every one that will accept him. He is that voice inside that most people like to call a conscience. The Holy Spirit is a Christian’s strength and wisdom, it is what makes a difference in and through a person. When Baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in tongues God begins to truly develop in one the gifts that he has given to them. For the Christian the Holy Spirit and the developing of his gifts is their most powerful weapon. The Old Testament saints, the prophets priests and kings were able to administer the word and the power of God. They stood in the presence of God and offered up sacrifices. They lead the nation of God’s people into a good relationship with the father. They were able to do all this because they had the Holy Spirit within them. They never would have been able to do it on their own. “One of the most vital ministries of the Holy Spirit in this world is to serve as God’s divine agent to bring men to Christ.” (Wilson, 158) Throughout the bible we learn some of the principles He uses to do this. It is human nature to not want to feel guilty for our actions. We do not want to think that what we are doing is wrong and is being judge by a just God. There are many people in this world that would justify mans sinful actions telling them it is ok, it is fine, you are not doing anything wrong, this is normal, it’s
