The Great Walls of China are split by trenches, rivers and hills. It is about twenty feet high and fifteen feet wide. It was mainly main up of mud, gravel and wood and it is still a debatable fact whether the corpses of many laborers were also added to build the walls, because the human bones were thought to add stability to a structure.
The main reason why the Great Wall of China was built by different rulers of China was to protect the borders of their empire from the nomadic warring tribes .It all started in the 5th century BC, when the states of Qi, Yan, and Zhao constructed great barricades to defend their borders. Theses were built because of the attacks of small arms such as swords and spears. These walls were made mostly by stamping gravel and earth between board frames. Later on, Emperor Qin demanded that the walls that were once built by other states need to be connected and also adding on under his expense to strengthen the boundary. The long Quin’s wall started from the east at Liaoning Province and ended at Lintao, Gansu Province. The Emperor connected and extended four old fortification walls along the north of China that originated around 700 B.C.
