I believe that teaching being ‘the hardest thing ever done” is the same reason that it is so rewarding. If teaching was easy, everyone would be doing it. It takes a unique individual to step up to the challenge. Teaching is an opportunity to mold an individual from scratch into a masterpiece. Not all teacher/student connections work out and sometimes different variables prevent that master piece from being created, but that should not stop one who has the persistency to keep trying. You have to continue to work hard at your job while changing the lives of individual that you educate. I use to think that being a teacher was going to be a short eight hours of teaching and being with children. Having summers off made being a teacher seem a lot more beneficial to. Being a teacher seemed to be the easiest career choice out there for me. After viewing the second grade classroom in Shepherdstown Elementary it is safe to say that I have changed my opinion of teaching. There is unquestionably another side to the world of a teacher that can only be seen inside a classroom. Watching the students made me realize that being a teacher will no doubt carry some difficulties but, it will all pay off in the end. Observing has made me realize that there is more to teaching, the classroom, and what goes on inside.…

The challenges of becoming teacher are easy and it is underestimated by many people. Based on the title itself, “Beginning: The Challenge of Teaching,” I think Ayer believes that most people think that becoming teacher is the worst mistake since teachers are badly paid and often have work in some difficult situations such as dealing with problematic students or constantly have to motivate the students to learn. Furthermore, there are a lot of “myth” about to becoming good teachers and most people believe that going to the school of education is good enough.…

I have meet with more than my share of difficult challenges. This one will remain with me always, occasionally playing over in my mind when I look at my son. It was April of 1993, the eve of Easter Sunday; my children and I were coloring Easter eggs in anticipation of the big hunt the following morning. The kids were excited and having a blast, especially my three-and-a-half- year old son Joey. With the eggs freshly colored and carrots left out for the Easter Bunny, I put my children to bed, prepared the Easter baskets and retired myself. What happened the next morning would change not only my perspective, but also my entire life.…

Everyone has progressed to where they are in life today because they had a great teacher. According to Webster’s dictionary, a teacher is someone who teaches or gives instruction. This is such a simple definition, but the reality to it is that teaching is so much more complicated and rewarding, especially if you want to make a difference in these children’s lives. Although this statement is true in general, it magnifies much more when you look at the situation in these high need areas that need great teachers. These schools have difficulty retaining teachers. Children in these high need areas come from very different backgrounds, and face various difficulties, such as economic, social, and family…

Perhaps it is time to rethink the teaching job itself so that more people might do it well. One idea is to create more specific teaching jobs so that each teacher isn't asked to excel at so many different tasks on a day to day basis. The idea is to revamp the job in a way that allows individual teachers to spend more time doing what they're best at.…

Teaching itself is a very appealing job. As an educator, working with students to achieve a better education is a great experience. These people get to help students through the struggles of school and eventually be held accountable for some of the student’s success. This in turn creates a very gratifying atmosphere for a teacher, because not only are they somewhat liable for the success of a student, but educators are also important in teaching their students valuable life skills and career planning. These tools help students for the years that come after their education is over.…

Teaching is a challenging job with many unique frustrations but the rewards of teaching are numerable. (UNC Baccalaureate5 education in Science and teaching). This letter written by this second grader reveals to us that though teaching can be challenging there are intrinsic and extrinsic rewards to be gained. According to Kauchak& Eggen the National poll posed the same question asked by “teaching and you”, the question that was posed was, which would be more rewarding, a 5% raise or spending an hour a week volunteering? The respondents said that the volunteering would be more rewarding. This response may be due to the fact that teachers are not paid sufficiently. Teachers by nature and by their career path are called to go beyond the call of duty and in addition to this teachers are faced with many challenges in the classrooms. Whatever the circumstances are that surrounds teaching, there are minds to be transformed and minds to…

Teaching is undoubtedly an extremely demanding role to take on and as the quote by Donald D. Quin suggests, few are able to understand the pressures and stresses that this line of work brings. However, despite the intensity of this type of career, many are still filling up colleges and universities on training courses to do exactly this. Tony Buzan’s opinion above sheds light on maybe just a part of what drives people into assuming such a manic position in society. Training is a major part of becoming a teacher and all need this foundation to become the great teacher that they…

When I first made the decision to go to college to be a teacher, I did it because I enjoyed kids. Now after being in the education program for two years and having been in multiple classrooms, I have decided that I want to be a teacher not only because I like kids, but because I enjoy being a part of the intellectual and physical development children go through. To me being able to witness and help in the development and growth that children undergo in the classroom is one of the most rewarding feelings I have ever experienced. I have had teaching experience in both small and large group settings and the feeling was the same, when I can help a child succeed in learning, I find myself successful too.…

I want to be a teacher for several different reasons. I initially decided teaching was for me when I was in middle school. I had an amazing teacher that helped me through a lot. She made a huge impact on my life, and I knew then that I wanted to be able to do the same for other kids. I later went on to have children of my own, which gave me even more reason to become a teacher. And even with the economy the way it is today, there are actually a lot of opportunities for teaching given the wide variety of jobs a teaching degree can obtain. I also understand the responsibility that comes with teaching and that the job doesn’t end when you leave the classroom. That is why I respect the teaching field as much as I do. I know I still have a long way to go before I get to my teaching career but I feel it will all be worth it when I get there.…

If you were to ask a teacher why they chose their profession, you should not be surprised to hear them say they felt called to educate the next generation. As honorable as this calling may be, it comes with great responsibility. Teachers can become overwhelmed, feeling like the weight of the world and its future rests on their shoulders. They cannot be like parents who can choose to limit their focus on investing in their own children. A teacher’s influence can be limited to their school, their classroom, and their students.…
