The Hobbit Chapter Summaries

The article “Overview of The Hobbit,” by Don Akers, he goes over the platform of the book and how it relates to other books. To start the article off Akers goes over the reason why The Hobbit was even written in the first place. He often compares the book to The Lord of the Rings, a different but similarly mythical story. This article focuses mainly on the background of the book, not so much the actual story of the book. Which can be very helpful before reading the actual book itself. Then we learn more about the author of the book, Tolkien and how the road started and the difficult tasks he had to overcome. One quote that I found interesting was when Akers starts to talk about mythical creatures and tying them in will real world animals.
