The Importance of Teaching Mathematics and Science in English (Ppsmi)
Many Malaysian are becoming overweight and unhealthy because of the modern lifestyle they lead. Do you agree with the statement? Write an essay in not less than 350 words explaining your point of view.
Many Malaysians today, are becoming overweight and unhealthy due to the modern lifestyle they lead. In my opinion, I strongly agree with the statement above because I believe Malaysians should learn to improve the way they lead their life by starting a new healthy life such as concern about their food taking.
Firstly, Malaysians prefer to eat fast food because fast food is easier and takes less time to prepare. In fact they who don't have to spend time in kitchen, cook for meal and prepared the ingredients for the dish. Besides that, fast foods such as noodles or fries are preferred for busy individuals because it does not take a long time to prepare it. For example parents who are too busy in their work don’t have enough time cooking for their children so they buy fast food such as KFC for their children
Secondly, Malaysians are less concerning on the importance of exercise. As we know exercise will make our body healthy and helps to prevent us from becoming obesity. This means that by doing exercise, it helps to reduce the body fat and control our body weight. Therefore, it is good for Malaysians to exercise by washed their own cars or cleaned house that can make a lot of movement and make their sweat.
Lastly, the advancement of technology today turned people to become lazy. Turning back to the past, no washing machines, and not so many cars as much today, people are doing all their work itself and only walk or cycle one place to another place. For example today even their house is near to the shop but people still want to use car rather than walk. So what?????
In a nutshell, it can be said that fast food, less concern of exercise and advance in technology today are the reason Malaysians becoming overweight and unhealthy. Thus, government should take lighted

Food is a necessity and without food we wouldn’t be able to survive. But what happens when that very essential thing we need to survive is not good for us? According to the website Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than one-third of Americans have obesity (Adult Obesity Facts). One of the major reasons causing obesity is a poor diet, what some call, the Western Diet. In Michael Pollan article “Escape from the Western Diet”, he argues that people should give up the western diet. Pollan reaffirm readers, that those who indulge in the ways of the western diet are prone to a variety of chronic diseases. The western diet, he argues, is not good and should be put to an end. As Pollan asserts, people should focus more on eating…

Alison Motluk believes that people who are obese shouldn 't be to blame for their obesity. (562). Motluk claims that “In 1992 about 13 percent of Americans were clinically obese...ten years later that figure skyrocketed to 22 percent...” (562). Many other countries such as the UK, Australia, and many other Western countries are following the United States lead in the obese epidemic, which is seen as one of the developed world 's biggest public-health problems. (563). Motluk claims that people who are obese can 't actually be blamed for it because the culture in the United States promotes obesity which makes unhealthy eating the default option. (563). Motluk quotes Martin Brinks, a psychologist at Duke University 's Diet and Fitness Center, when she states that calorie rich foods are much more easier to obtain than ever before. (563). This is proven by the fact that most of the average American 's food budget is spent on food that is eaten outside of the home, most of which is high in fat and calories. (563). Portion sizes are larger than they used to be, making the consumer want to eat more. (563). In the 1960s a McDonald 's meal of a hamburger, fries, and a twelve-ounce coke contained about 590 calories but now a quarter-pounder with cheese, super sized fries, and a coke contains around 1,550 calories. (563). This really goes to show how much of a change that America has done when considering diet. Motluk provides a valid argument that children are not receiving enough physical activity to balance the amount of calories that they are consuming. (563). In schools, many children do not even participate in a gym class. (563). There is also little to no walking access anymore in towns that are very developed because there are little to no sidewalks available, thus forcing people to drive…

When it comes to keeping the human body, nutrition is the most essential part of everyone’s life. If people do not have full control, it will affect the way they will be in the future. Any change to someone's diet will change their body in the long run, whether it be positive or negative. It is quite apparent, especially in America, that the common person’s nutrition has gone down hill. Since the 1980s, the rate of obesity has inflated double the amount for adults and triple for children (“Obesity” p. 1). Shockingly, America spends more on fast food than on college education, computers, software and cars combined. In fact, in 2005, Americans spent one hundred thirty four billion dollars on fast food alone. In the ‘70s, America only spent six billion (Schlosser p. 10). I am not one to blame McDonalds for the drastic rise of poor nutrition. There are obviously other reasons why. I mainly blame the misinformation and myths that the general public has been told. The reason why that people are more unhealthy now than in the past is…

Jamie Oliver put forward a great point, “Diet-related disease is the biggest killer in the United States, right now, here today. This is a global problem. It 's a catastrophe. It 's sweeping the world. England is right behind you, as usual.” With just a little change in the diet of Australians, we can prevent weight related death, which has risen dramatically since 2007. Jamie Oliver shows not only does the average child eat over 5 times its amount of sugar, but schools are selling possibly a gateway for obesity. (Oliver, 2010)…

The idea of quick and convenient food service has grown around the world, especially in the United States. When I first came to the United States from Vietnam in 2010, I drove around my local fast food restaurant to tastes the different meals. Meanwhile I was enjoying my meals, I saw many overweight children of different ages around me. Seeing these young children caught my attention, because there is rarely much obese children among Vietnam. In fact, when I saw that, I asked myself how overweight people are to blame for their own health. Recently, I read an article about “Don’t Blame the Eater” by David Zinczenko, who do a job the editor -in-chief of the fitness magazine Men’s health for many years, and he becomes president and CEO of Galvanized Brands. He argues Fast Food Company or the ones to blame for America obesity. Although I agree with his opinion, there are negative effects eat junk food, people need…

Overweight and obesity have increased over the years. The foods eaten away from home have really played a factor in why Americans are obese these days. What I mean by that is McDonalds has small, medium, and large value meals for everyone to choose from. It is not so much what we eat it is how much of what we eat. We should be making sure that we are eating our daily doses of fruits, vegetables, breads, grains, and dairy. In today’s society, people spend too much money on food outside of the home. (Young, 2007.) People need to be sure that they are eating at home and getting in all of the vegetables, fruits, bread, grains, and dairy products with every meal. It is not what they eat but how much of it they take in.…

The World Health Organization (2003) estimated that obesity and the national diet have become an epidemic around the world, which could be caused by limited attention in health and lack of consciousness of daily diet. In accordance with current trends, there will be 2.3 billion adults overweight [body mass index [BMI] ≥25] in 2015, and 700 million people will be clinically obese [BMI≥30] (Campbell, 2005). In light of these statistics, the government should establish relevant policies to address the diet and levels of obesity in order to enhance the individual’s awareness and transform the national unreasonable eating habits. It might be said that it is the choice of the citizens to choose diverse diets.
