During The Gilded Age we see the rise of what is now known as the progressive movement. The Knights of Labor for example helped unite workers and was a starting point of progressivism. People came to understand that our founding fathers never expected a massive growth of private wealth as that of the Gilded Age. So coming out of this time period, there will be a time for reform. The Progressive movement was this new feeling of liberalism that people shouldn’t be cheated by government policies and by bad business practices. For example the Robber Barons and corruption over the years of Capitalist and unsafe working conditions. The Progressive party is made up of Feminist, African Americans, protestant church leaders, and the Middle Class.
Progressives believed that a lot of things in our government needed to be fixed such as; Big business regulation, working conditions, immigration and urban morality. The party is formed under a more active government as lassies fair government is coming to end. We see a change …show more content…
First off the Progressives never rose past being just a third party, all though they brought new ideas that was supported not everyone supported them. We still have the dominate parties with the Democrats and the Republicans. Overall the progressives are just a third party who bring great ideas to government that should be fixed and changed but never had the power to make all these changes. Leading up to the First World War a lot of the progressive’s reformers were still advancing but as a result of the war a lot of progressive ideas are set on the back
