pay off in the long run. He believes that if a person goes to college they will be able to get a good job with a good salary to match. Leonhardt explains that college is beneficial in the sense that if you to college you are more likely to get paid more, eventually erasing your debt, and still make more money than a high school graduate. While this might be true, Matthews believes the total opposite of this. He exclaims that with the cost of college now sky rocketing, it is not worth the money. that. College has a great cost of attendance but it is all in the matter of what you gain from it. Besides the idea of increased pay in the future there are more things that I will benefit, from going to college. I would be able to not only make friends, but connections with people that might be able to help in some way that will benefit me in the future. I will gain the experience of being more independent. It will teach me how to be self-reliant and more mature to be able to strive on my own. College will also give me the skills set that will be required in whatever I choose to do. College will challenge me, to make me think critically, in preparation of my future career. Overall I will be highly productive in college to make it my money’s worth. As mentioned before college comes with a big price tag. It is something that will cause people to take out loans make them go into debt. Even though I have the possibility of going into debt, having a college degree will be able to offset it with me being able to get a high paying job to pay it off. College will help me realize what I want to do and prepare me for that field of work. The value of a college education and experience is limitless in my opinion because in the long run it will all pay off. In conclusion, I want to go to college because of it preparing and helping me in my future career.
Overall with the arguments of Chris Matthews and David Leonhardt, College is great experience that everyone should have. David Leonhardt has the correct mindset that college can benefit anybody. It is something that you cannot put a dollar sign on. It will largely benefit everyone. It will help people figure what they want to do, as well as get them ready for that field of work. I believe that it is good to take the risk and go to college because it will ready a person for the outside world. College has its pros and cons, it is up to you, of what you make out of
