The Shado Family: A Short Story
Hiro also got up and grabbed my hand before I could get far away from him. Hiro pulled me towards him and whispered in my ear.

"Take care. Make sure not to get in any more bad situations." He whispers before running off over to his parents.

I blush as I ran over to my mom and hid behind her legs. I looked over to see the Shado family looking at me and I looked away when I saw Hiro blushing.

-Two Years Later After Meeting The Shado Family-

*Niaome's P.O.V*

I walked down the street on my way to my first day of school when I bumped into two people. The three of us dropped our book on the ground. At the same time we all grab somebody else's books before we stand up. Once I fully straightened up I gasp at who I saw.

Sarah and Hiro Shado....

"for safety is not a gadget but a state of mind" and so is hope. When you are facing obstacles all you think of is finding a solution no matter what . That was the case when the Joad family had no other way but to find a better place to live in.They decided to leave everything behind and go to California. The place that many families decided to go to believing they can find a good life waiting for them. Kind of similar to Christopher MCcandless's story except his parent's mistreatment is the reason behind his pilgrimage. He decided to move to a far place where he can find safety and hope and star a new life.My family's story could also relate to Christopher's but instead of family issues we had society and environment issues. We did not live in peace and all we wanted is to find a better place.…

I came back to the house after dropping Lauren off at school to find Noah back at the house. "I thought I told you to leave?" I asked. "You did but I never left," he replied calmly. "Why?" I asked. "Because we need to talk about custody," he replied,"I was thinking I get half and you get half." "I don't want to just see my baby half of her life," I yelled. "Well neither do I," he yelled back. "Why can't we just be happy together and give Lauren a good childhood?" I asked. "I don't know. Where did we go wrong?" Noah replied. "I have no idea. Could we maybe give us another chance?" I asked shyly. "I... Um..... Guess we can try," he gave in. "Thank you," I said as I hugged him. We're going to fight for our…

“Hello,” said a kind face to me as I entered my first eighth-grade class at a new school. “Hello,” I said back, not knowing how to take the gesture. I walked into a classroom full of new faces. Everyone was gawking at the new kid. I thought to myself, “is it what I’m wearing? Do I look weird? Should I say something?” I did nothing but go to my assigned seat, and sat quietly just like I did on the bus months prior. As I sat in silence, I listened intently as the teacher floated across the room while calling roll. When I heard my name called, I tried to muster up the courage to address myself in a casual way, but I’m sure that it came out as a nervous “here.” As she finished roll call, each student was handed a mountain of forms and papers. Then the class slowly transformed into a parade of shouts and laughter. Everyone was welcoming each other back, except for me. I sat there in silence examining everyone.…

I remember when I was young and my grandmother decided to take me to the library with her. She put me into “The Little Readers Club” while she went off to look for books to read. In the club we were told to look for a book and read it and then share what the book was about. I remember getting up and look at all the shelves filled with thousands and thousands of books. I remember thinking, “how could a person write so much and not run out of words?” putting aside my curiousity, I searched for a book and found a book called “Spaghetti in a hot dog bun.” After I picked the book I came and sat down and saw all the other kids smiling and reading their books like they were professionals as I sat there not knowing how to read at all. I felt dumb at the moment and unfit, so all I did was look at the pictures and try to come up with what I thought the story was about. When it came to sharing time; I was too embarrassed to tell the club leader that I didn’t read my story because I couldn’t read. So when it came to my turn to share my story I stood up and said, “My book is about a girl that likes….uh…” I just stood there and froze; I realized that I never knew what the characters in the book liked or what. I stood there as everybody stared at me as I slowly felt myself tearing up. When I finally couldn’t handle the embarrassment, I ran and hid myself behind two big shelves and didn’t come out until I heard my grandmother calling…
