In most cases, the first word that pops into one's mind when they think of the English Mastiff is intimidating. In reality, English Mastiffs are probably one of the least intimidating breeds that you will ever come across. This is something that most people don't realize because they're so focused on the exterior appearance. Although the English Mastiff is often considered a vicious breed, through my essay I will cover how they are large in appearance, large in intelligence, and large in heart. English Mastiffs are extremely large in appearance, and to most people, very intimidating. Their general appearance consists of a massive body, broad head, and a square-shaped frame. Their coats come in as many different colors as: golden fawn, light fawn, apricot, silver, tiger or brindle. The average weight for an adult English Mastiff is 160 pounds, while many exceed 200. English Mastiffs are tremendously large in intelligence. This breed is very well known for it's obedience and loyalty to its owner. English Mastiffs are also easily trained, living to please people and earn attention. Once taken in by a family, these dogs become very protective of their family. If there is someone or something they don't trust near their family, they will guard their family with their life. English Mastiffs are beautifully large in heart. Their love for their family is unconditional and incredible to watch. They live to see their families pleased with them. The job they were given when they were born into this world was to be the ultimate protector. This job, as many have seen, is taken extremely seriously. Almost never do they become vicious, but if it's all they can do to protect their families, they will become just that. To me, the English Mastiff is one of the most incredible breeds because of their loyalty and bravery that they possess, while at the same time, have such an obvious love and joy for life.
