Toddler's Physical Environment

Describe some features of a physical environment in an infant/toddler classroom that would support language and literacy development for the children ( you should distinguish between the two groups). Include information on how/why the arrangement supports this development for the age groups. Some features of a physical environment in an infants classroom that would support language and literacy development for the children are having low mirrors, eye level pictures, soft rugs, and having a neutral color on the walls and natural lighting. Working with infants can be very challenging. It’s always good to be very careful with things that surround them, since they can’t talk or describe what they want. When we are working with infants, it’s good to have low mirrors to teach them self recognition.
Discuss what materials are important to the language and literacy support in these classrooms and why they are important/ how they are used. Puppets are a great way to get kids to learn. They help build motor and social skills, emotional development, and are a way to encourage creativity. Stuffed animals are a good way for infants and toddlers to develop social skills. Talking toys are also a good way for kids to develop listening skills.
Toddlers need to be able to get their creativity out by playing with puppets. They also develop social skills. Others toys such as puzzles, stuffed animals, and dramatics plays can also help them with the child's development, social skills and literacy skills. Blocks are very important to have in daycares. They help children with problem solving, social and emotional growth, creativity, and imagination. Books are more important since it helps with their literacy development and imagination. Storytelling, singing songs, roleplaying, and between others can be use while we reading a book.
