1. The creation of new states
There were several treaties signed after the treaty of Versailles. This treaty was signed by Germany, but other countries such as Austria, Hungary, Bulgaria and Turkey, also had to sign their own treaties.
In September 1919, just some months after signing the Treaty of Versailles, the Treaty of Saint-German was signed with Austria. Due to this treaty Austria's land got reduced to 84.000 kilometers and it had to accept the independence of Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Yugoslavia. Some of the lands of Austria were given to Italy and some other lands, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Slovenia indeed, were given to Yugoslavia. Besides, the treaty prohibited Austria to join with Germany.
In November of the same year the Treaty of Neuilly was signed with the government of Bulgaria. It was forced by the treaty to give the East part of Thrace to Greece and this way Bulgaria lost its way out to the sea. …show more content…
Two months later, in August, the Turkish Empire signed the Treaty of Sevres. Turkey lost many of his lands among them Armenia which became independent; some island were given to Greece and others to Italy; Syria, Lebanon and Sicily which were left in hands of France; and Iraq , Palestine and Transjordan that were left in hands of Great Britain. The peace conditions were not liked by the Turkish and because of that reason a nationalist uprising, run by Mustafa Kemal, started a war against Greece.
