Triple P teaches the parents on how to instruct their children on creating new skills and behaviors by teaching the parents how to incorporate behavioral charts or by setting good examples for the children to model. Parents can manage their child’s misbehavior by establishing boundaries and rules, giving clear instructions, utilizing quiet time, and by giving their child logical consequences. The parents are also taught how to prevent problems in high-risk situations by providing incentives and providing consequences in order for the child to behave in a positive manner. The parents are instructed to how to establish ground rules and have follow-up sessions with their child, after a situation has occurred. Triple P encourages parents to teach their child self-regulation by engaging in self-evaluations with their child to examine the child’s strengths and weaknesses and to also help the child to set personal goals for change. The last two coping skills; which include mood management and partner support, focuses on the parent’s behaviors rather than the child’s behavior.
